Two rumors re: Pendergast

I wonder how those Rams defenses managed to do so well in 1999 and 2001 when their offense would score in like 3 plays sending the D right back on to the field.

When you get ahead that fast teams begin to get aggressive. They were built with speedy, small players that forced turnovers when they knew you HAD to pass.

ANd if you don't think Defenses tire, replay New England's 4th quarter front 7. They needed oxygen and IVs.

No, but the defense was quite often placed in a difficult position because of offensive mess ups. I contend that they dealt with pretty poor field position caused by horrible special teams coverage and offensive turnovers.

Its makes it real hard on the defense when the kickoff team allows the other team to get to the 35-48 yard line on every kick .. kind of puts us in hole to start with .. our STs have been horrible over the last years ...

Cowboys have not spoken to Pendergast.

Most of the media suggests the Felons will be more inclined to pick a DC familiar and comfortable running a 3-4.

Although Clancy has mixed in 3-4 looks with a base 4 -3 (and employs a lot of the principles of the 3 -4 into his defensive schemes), he's not really a 3 - 4 coach.

Hot Coaching Name du jour is Wade Phillips who runs a 3- 4.
