1. For years to come we will be comparing dropping back and taking Bucannon rather than simply taking Clinton-Dix with our 20th pick. Barring injury, it will be fun watching them both develop. Hopefully, Dix won't be in one of those future "Who We Should Have Taken" draft discussions.

2. A blocking TE in round 2 over 3 fast awesome RBs with big NFL potential to go with our speedy 2nd yr back, and a QB who's accuracy seemed to surpasse all those in his class. Hopefully, we won't be wondering how we could have passed on a Jim Brown look-a-like or Garoppolo, ? - the Pats next Tom Brady. Considering such a high pick, I hope Niklas develops into at least what Floyd appears to becoming. Check back in 3 yrs for the answer to this one.

In a few years, these will be the issues by which us Cards fans judge the 2014 draft.

I think that the way Cards drafted this year shows that we are in 'Win it This Year' mode. Instead of drafting for the future---drafted to fill in the openings in both the O and D. The SB is in our house, Bill Sr. ain't getting any younger and you know Junior wants to give his Dad another SB shot, a lot of our core players are at (or past) their prime, our key coaching staff is a bunch of old dudes who were looking at homes in Sun City in the offseason.

The three QBs in our Division are still young guys who only stand to get better as they gain game experience and their teams assemble talent around them. We have an old experienced dog as our QB---we need to take advantage of the young QBs while they are still in their learning curve---it will become harder to beat these guys when they learn coverage schemes, how go through their read progressions, etc. We stand to be in deep trouble if we do land a young QB and have to wait a few years for reasonable play while our 3 Division rivals have QBs all in their prime production. That's the draft error that will haunt the Cards for years to come.ML didn't work out (for whatever reason) and that pick and our chance to get a Franchise QB was lost in that draft. We got to win this year, next year at the latest.

Cards could have taken a develipmental QB early, another RB, etc.

But those are not players to complete the team Arians/Bowles want on the field NOW. That's one reason the DoobieWeed suspension is so painful---Cards mgmt. already had him penciled in as a key component of the D.

If the Cards make it into the playoffs (and hopefully another SB) appearance, some of those 'Shoulda picked that guy' hindsight evaluations will be put out of mind.

How we managed to have an offense in the NFL, and not have a TE the magnitude of Niklas on the roster.

I know blocking isn't sexy, and saying a running back in the next Jim Brown is way more fun than saying that our tight end is the next Heath Miller, but there is a reason that during Miller's prime in Pittsburgh surrounded by very average linemen, the run game always seemed to produce.

But, hey, drafting for flashy draft picks always works for the Lions right ?

I should also note, when looking back at the 2014 draft, we may be talking about some steals that the Cardinals drafted for the defensive line in later round being VERY productive for this club.

I liked Teddy Bridgewater, and while I understood why they didn't draft him, I think that was a mistake.

As for running backs, unless they are the talent of a Adrian Peterson, I wouldn't draft one before the 4th round in the modern day NFL.

We drafted a T-end that blocks, not a blocking TE.

Interesting that of the top 10 rushers last season only 1 was drafted after the 3rd round while only 3 were drafted in the 1st round.

As long as the Cards don't draft a RB in the 2nd round I'm ok with whenever else they draft one. :D

I agree. If there is a giant, 'whoops' in our future, I think it'll be not drafting Bridgewater at 27. I'm not sold on him, but man its hard to pass up on almost 2 years of solid hype because of a rapid decline a month before the draft.

Agreed, and the Cardinals should stop drafting in the 3rd round entirely.

And don't talk about Matheui, he doesn't count, cause Honey Badger don't care if the Cardinals 3rd round picks never works out, he doesn't what he wants.

Adub, DD and Aeneas Williams disagree. Now I realize that this cover 23 years but AW is a hall of famer and DD and Adub are special players.

Early, Roberts and especially Rashad Johnson weren't wasted picks.

LOL at the HB comment but I'm going to count him anyway. :)

So if I'm trading back and acquiring extra picks I'm hoping they aren't 3rd rounders but I'm shying away from them either.

Wow.

I thought Adub was a 2nd, and Dockett a 4th..pfffft. Shows what I know.

don't forget to assess John Brown in that mix too. If we took Clinton-Dix, we wouldn't have gotten him. But even still, as has been pointed out, he's a FS anyways. I thought we drafted perfectly there
