It's ironic that even when the Suns think big . . . they think small.

How many years ago was it when Mark West's 6'10" - 240 was no longer the norm for a big Center?

Management's thinking has advanced 1 inch -- and no pounds -- in all these years.

I wish I didn't have to react to 'Lucy yanking the ball away every year', but JC naming inexperienced neophyte Head Coaches, to keep his Small Ball intact, is still the way it is.

And, just as we say every year, it will be, until the Colangeli move on.

He played with that injury for quite a while before he went for surgery and on the IR.

He was still recovering afterward.

I've watched Penny since college, and lazy passes have never been his MO.

Joe Johnson does play better defensively when his head is in the game. In fact when he's really concentrating on his defense he might be better than Shawn Marion. The preseason it looks like he's also going to be better offensively than Penny Hardaway.

I still feel Penny Hardaway should start though. It doesn't have anything to do with which player is better. I think you start Penny Hardaway to get the most out of him. When he just was not very good coming off the bench, and I really believe it's because he needs to come into the game warm. I don't think Joe Johnson would have the same problem, and he can bring some energy and scoring off the bench.

That's my $.02 anyhow.

Yup, I agree. I get the impression that JJ is at his best when he's the centre of attention on the court so to speak. If he starts then I feel that, he, (by nature of his non aggresive/less aggressive personality) will automatically defer to SM, SM and AS as he is less sure of his position when playing with these guys.

Penny, by virtue of his past standing as one of the NBA's best and his acceptance of being a role player, knows exactly where he fit's in and can provide solutions more effectively to the other players' needs.

If JJ's the sixth man then he auomatically becomes more of a focus on offence and that is when he excels. I strongly feel that to start JJ would be a bad idea.

Joe Johnson or Hardaway starting doesn't make a difference anyway. The argument that the Suns played better with Penny healthy is bogus.

Sorry slinslin but, as Philmattic already pointed out, this statement is ridiculous.

How is that speculation? It happened. Even the announcers noticed that and had the camera on Penny.

Everyone who thinks that Penny Hardaway has truly accepted his role as a role player is dreaming in my opinion.
Penny might say that in the media but he isn't happy about it. Just like he thinks he shouldn't be losing the starting spot unless he does something to lose it. No matter how much JJ is doing for winning it.

You wrote, "It didn't look like Penny wanted to be out on the floor."

That is speculation. Even the announcers noticed it. Since when are announcers the end-all and be-all of how players feel on the floor. They're seeing the same thing you are, after all.

Blah blah blah blah blah This same old schtick just keeps getting old. You may be right, but are you really informing everyone of some breaking news bulletin here? No. You are using it as an excuse, and this year, that excuse isn't going to work. Penny may or may not be disgruntled, but right now, he's not showing it, and until he does, it does no good to speculate how the guy "looked" 5 months ago. Right now, Penny is not causing us to lose games. When he does, then I'll probably complain about it. Until then, we have a ton of other problems we have to address.

Right? I mean, that makes sense, doesn't it slin?
