Technique and scheme wise it shouldnt be an issue. LSU moved him all over the field even taking snaps at FS.

When it comes to size, weight is the determining factor. That's why in combat sports there are weight classes, not height classes. Honey Badger is 5'9" 186 lbs. Bob Sanders is 5'8" 206 lbs. Bob Sanders is the bigger man.

In basketball, Honey Badger can shoot over the top of him. :)

Yup and let him ball hawk. He just had a knack for the big play. Love the pic

I thought they would go with Lemonier or Montgomery but me and my

family loved the pick. My brothers called me this morning and said they

wanted to go to the St. Louis game week one with me

Didn't Bob Sanders play SS? And didn't that walking muscle also run a 4.35/40 and have a 41" vertical jump? That's not Mathieu either.

Got to be a style of play comparison.

Of course, SS Troy Polamalu being much stronger, bigger (5'10" 207), faster (4.3 something/40) and having big time hops (43" VJ) helps him play the way he plays in the NFL.

I had a buddy I knew back in high school who was a 5'7 160 lb hockey player who was smallish and would play side games of tackle football with our 5A Varsity team and just tear them up because he had NO regard for his body and was just a kamikaze missle who attacked with reckless abandon. He also had really good tackling fundamentals and wrapped up really well.

Thats what I see when I see the Honey Badger on tape. True to form he just doesnt give a f***. He just runs full speed and launches himself into guys 2X his size.

Sometimes size matter (despite what your wife tells you ;) ) but then again sometimes it doesnt. Honey Badger falls into the latter.

This guy will be a kamikaze missle on the field. First on ST's and later in defense. But I guarantee you will notice him from the first Preseason Game on....

this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KBPaoS6odk ? I'm not too concerned with his ability on the field, just off. That's one season worth of highlights

He'll be in the D backfield with the original LSU #7 highlight reel (PP), and Arians said he plans on putting em both back together to return punts. Where can the punter kick it? May see a lot more teams go for it on 4th vs us

watch him pick off one of our other picks (Swope) at about 1:45 in this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U7_hzArz2w

You are correct. I've talked about that for years how it always seems there's some small guy who appears to be made out of granite and knocks the snot out of people on High School teams.

But my concern is not with tackling or toughness its coverage. He'll be covering guys as much as 7 inches taller than he is. (6'5"TEs)

I guess I'm just gun shy from watching teams take advantage of Money Mike despite Adams toughness and huge heart.

how do CBs typically do moving to safety? Is it easy to move from CB to safety? hmm...

Happens a lot actually.

If the guy is a good enough athlete it usually works.

Charles Woodson, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott, Ronde Barber are a few examples

We used to do the joker role with Rolle, I bet this will be a similar role for him. He's really talented. Hopefully he rewards the Cardinals for giving him a chance by becoming a superstar player and model citizen. (I can hope something like this works out for the Cardinals, we deserve to luck out sometimes)

To add a thought...

Have you seen the length of his arms?? If he were a boxer he'd have longer reach than buys 4 inches taller. That matters in boxing, basketball (especially when it comes to rebounding) and to a CB, I think. Swat balls away where a man with shorter arms would fail.

Exciting about the Honey Badger.

Ian Rappaport just said on NFLN that BA has said Mathieu will play FS.

This guy can really play football and is in the class of Peterson other than his personal problems. If he can keep his head on straight he might be the best player in our draft. He can play anywhere in the defensive backfield. He may be half crazy but I do not care if he plays in the NFL like he did in college.

I think Mathieu can play FS but Sanders weighs over 200 lbs. Honey Badger is not bigger than Bob.

He was a star as a DB on probably the best defensive team in the nation. How LSU keep coming up with these great DBs is a mystery to me. They had a good number of their defensive players drafted this past week. His interview would have been interesting. I doubt Mr. B would have ever drafted him with his record as a person.
