Ok Ford says 4-5 years at 10M$ because he is past his injury. A little too much in my opinion but 5 years 40M$ would be acceptable to me and absolutely solidify our center position finally.

Areas of need are clearly:

Center or Backup Center
Power Forward or Backup Center
.
.
.
.
.
Backup Shooting Guard
Backup Point Guard

Power Forward clearly becomes the most pressing need if Amare leaves.

No one is going to give Chandler $40M/4, that's insanity. A sign-and-trade for Barbosa could work.

I looked at what Tyson was wanting as far as salary and sort of said good luck. This doesn't mean I would not want him at a more reasonable salary.

Last season Chandler averaged only 6.3 rpg. His career reboudning is 8.8 rpg. He's not a threat to score, so I'm not surprised he's a bit low on the radar and averaged only 15 minutes in the playoffs.

Im glad you dont work for the FO slin...

4 years 40 Million for a broken Tyson Chandler is crazy and only an option if you're trying to sabotage the franchise.

At his prime he and FULL health (no risk for injury) he'd be work 11-14 Million a year.

At his current condition, he's LUCKY to be getting an offer past 3 years. And also anything above 5 Million.

Spurs will probably trade for him, they need someone next to Duncan and McDyess, he's worth a lot for the Spurs and I can see them offering 4 year 25-30 Million contract.

For the Suns, he is worth max 4 Million a year..

Suns have Lopez now, and Suns should only offer for him when/if Stoudemire leaves.

Lopez/Chandler/Frye front court will be servicable with Nash setting them up.

I guess he is banking on MLE for 5 years before his body completely breaks down. I'd rather have J. Oneal at the MLE for 3-4 years.

Please the Suns need a center like Chandler badly. We have no backup for Lopez at all.

Chandler is healthy right now and he'd be worth 5yrs/35-40M$. Centers always cost a lot and we badly need the size, rebounding and defense that he can provide.

Endorsed!

I have long contended that I would LOVE a Tyson Chicken/Stat combo at 5/4. I'd even love a re-signed Amare if we got Chandler. Granted, I'm still against the max for Amare, but if we could trade Barbs for Tyson and re-sign Amare at about $15 million (which is the highest I've suggested), I'm in for that run.

Nash-JRich-Hill-Stoudemire-Chandler

Dragic-Dudley-Clark-Lou-Lopez-Frye

Am I missing someone? Lou re-signed. Frye re-signed.

That's a solid 10-11 deep.

Does it work?

I'd bet all but the most ardent Amare bashers would re-sign him at that price. Unfortunately, I've seen nothing to suggest Stat would accept such a reasonable offer. It would be nice to have a player of his caliber and not have to grossly overpay him.

Lopez is our starting center, they're not going to overpay Chandler to take his spot, especially after how good the team played AFTER Lopez became a starter. You sign Chandler, you lose Lou Amundson. That's a given. In fact, you DON'T sign Chandler, Lou is gone. I think we've seen the last of Lou Amundson in a Suns uniform, regardless of whether Amare walks or not.

I'm thinking LB is gone if there is a taker. However, the Suns might want to move a good player in JRich (who happens to be expiring contract) if the Suns need some more help upfront. I'd really like to keep JRich and then resign him to a more reasonable contract when his 12M contract expires.

Two reasons why I feel we won't target Chandler:

1) His asking price is way more than his current value and PHX will not meet it. Guy is not the same player he was 2 years ago.

2) Lopez is the starting C, no way management brings in someone to start over him and halt his development. PHX is looking for a back-up, you don't pay a back up $10M.

At best, Chandler is a defensive specialist. I have doubts about how he would fit on a Suns team. A few years ago I was pushing for Mutombo when he was getting minimal money and he was everything Chandler could only dream of being. This is not a team that can afford buys who can't score.

If Amare were returning I'd be interested in a reasonably healthy Chandler because the latter does provide the things Amare is weakest at - and given Robin's shaky future. Trouble is that if we resign Amare we can't afford Chandler and if we don't then he isn't worth as much. Then there is the question of whether Chandler is really healthy... he and his agent claiming it is not very reassuring...

The Suns are going to be paying $7.1 million to a backup SG next season, so if there's a way to divert similar funds to a backup C instead, I don't have a problem with that.

I thought we were one big man away from truly giving the Lakers a run for their money. Chandler, if he can stay healthy, is exactly the type of big man this team needs.

The question is, can we afford to pay Frye and Amare, and have enough to snag Chandler? I doubt it. Too many teams have too much cap space, and when they lose out on the big time guys, they'll set their sights on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier free agents.

^ If Chandler can accept a $3 million a year contract, maybe for 4 years to give him security and a trade kicker of some sort.

But as i said... the Spurs, Knicks, Hornets, Rockets etc are some of the teams that will make a bid for him.
