No Centers, whether experienced or young, are going to fulfill their potential on the Suns as well as they could on other teams. Looking at Len's situation is an empty dream.

It has been posted that the facilitators, if you can call Bledsoe and Knight that, have not made it easy for the Centers to be a significant part of the offense. They are just not smooth Point Guards.

Unless they station themselves at the top of the key (as Adams did for a decade) or 23 feet from the basket (as Frye did), Suns Centers just do not fit in.

It took an outrageous personality like the Chuckster to dominate from a power position on the Suns and he was under 6'5". And Shaq's short tenure here during the twilight of his career had no bearing on the hopes of building a strong playoff team.

You do know that NOT ONE FREAKING PERSON IS THE SAME IN THIS ORGANIZATION SINCE THOSE DAYS.

this post is completely illogical.

With the exception of the Barkley years, the Suns are, and have always been, a Guard oriented team.

No Center has prospered unless they play offense like a Guard.

And today's Suns fit the mold. The "Point Guards" setting up the plays have pretty much disregarded our two Centers on offense. And because Chandler and Len are not perimeter shooters, that leaves them very little.

Y'know, if the Suns performance had improved steadily over the past five or six seasons, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But they haven't improved and there are legitimate reasons why. Rationalizing the status quo isn't going to change it.

Remember getting murdered about criticizing the signing at the time. For some reason giving a 33 year old center $52M was lauded by many.

I suspect I'm one that defended the signing. I thought his leadership and mentoring would make up for his age. It hasn't, far from it. I also thought he would be better than he has been but I really think our lineup has something to do with his performance.

This isn't the 80's, you can maybe hide one player that is uninvolved offensively but that's it. Considering so much of our offense is derived from penetration, having multiple starters that don't need to be guarded is a poor way to build that kind of team.
