Man when it rains it pours, Lane will have surgery on his left ankle next week, should be about a 5 month recovery according to Jon Gold's UCLA blog in the LA Times.
Lane injured the ankle in early October, missed a couple of weeks and the exhibition opener and then reinjured the ankle twice during the season. He played the last few games of the season with both a sprained ankle and a bruised sternum. I guess a recent checkup on the ankle decided there was more damage than originally thought thus the surgery.
If my math is correct he should be cleared by the start of practice but the real concern is how it might limit his offseason weight training, Lane really needs to get stronger and if he can't lift weights because his ankle is not weight bearing that could really set him back.
