I should've known it was only a matter of time before I got the "if you don't think MMA is a sport you should come try it" response from one of the their fans. No thanks guys, but like most rational people the novelty of beating people up and/or watching other people beat each other up wore off when I became an adult.

The same has been said about football, rugby, boxing, etc. Aren't you a fan of at least one of those?

If you can't see the difference between those sports and Ultimate Fighting then that's really not my problem. Not to mention those sports also have a couple pesky characteristics like longevity and mainstream acceptance, neither of which apply to MMA.

I'm not going to get in to a log pissing contest with you over "mature responses" Mao. All I'm going to say on the topic is that you can choose to like it or choose not to. The sport isn't for everyone and far be it from me or anyone else to try to tell you to change your mind. However, the way you define the sport is both off key and ignorant. I have several friends in the sport, I train in the sport myself when money permits it. I really don't find the questions of it's legitimacy and "barbarism" to be something that goes without defense.

.....wow......I thought people did more research. "Barbarity" applied to a sport that has never had a seriously injured combatant or a death...how many have been crippled in football(a sport I love by the way)? And how about the 7 deaths a year average boxing has? But that's not at all barbaric right? oh well

Well, there mustt be a lot of irrational people out there. Mayweather/De La Hoya brought in over 2 million viewers and over $199 million PPV dollars and boxing is a lot more dangerous than MMA
