Byrnes- looks like crap in the outfield, misreading balls left and right, great hitting though.
Young- Just hasnt shown up yet.

Drew- Playing well defensively, but looks tentative at the plate.
Tracy- Back to his shittyness
Jackson- Needs a fire lit under his ass, especially after that play at first today...pathetic.
Pitching- Horrible top to bottom.

What is the deal with this team, no one is playing ever half as good as they are capable on both sides of the ball.

Ha, a certian someone is gonna have a field day with your post!

Our pitching has not been bad from "top to bottom." Webb had a bad outing and Durbin & Valverde look like the minor leaguers they will soon be. Our pitchers have struggled with their command but Davis and Hernandez pitched well enough to get wins and our other relievers have looked decent. Our pitching has room for iprovement but it's not "horrible."

Our biggest problem right now is our complete lack of offense. It's frustrating watching crappy pitchers sit us down 1-2-3 inning after inning.

I agree with you 100% regarding Tracy. He looks like he doesn't even want to be out there.

I agree with you the majority of them out there act like they don't even want to play. Hell, J.Byrnes would just have to give me a uniform and I'd go out there and play, no multi-million dollar contract BS.

Eric Byrnes is the only one who really tries, it's just sometimes he over-trys(last night, costing us the game) But I'd rather have a team of Eric Byrnes' than what we have now. At least Byrnes has a heart when he plays.

And once again, our pitching sucks. It's only three days into the year, but if this is how they're going to preform it'll be a long year. I hope Johnson and Quentin returning gives us a boost.

This team looks like the Manager

This team is way too laid back. I don't see the fire except for Byrnes and he makes too many mistakes with his over aggressiveness. The fielding which is mental, and focus, needs to be addressed. That can be fixed with coaching and practice with intensity. We completely lack power and would be advised to trade someone for it because this team will be pitched around all year. The catching has not looked stellar. Montero needs to move his ass out from behind home plate on outside pitches and quit the one hand stabs. Seriously, Tony Clark who I love needs to consider retiring now and made a coach to make room for a prospect with power. Someone needs a blow torch under Connor Jackson or he is nothing more than one of those prospects with so much potential. To me he has to start delivering.

It's the first series of the season.. Everyone concerned needs to step back, breathe and relax. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Talk to me in June if they're still playing like this.

Everything we saw this series was to be expected out of this team.

Mistakes in the field and on the basepaths are consistent with a young team that is still learning.

A general sense of apathy with the players is expected with Bob Melvin as the manager.

The problem is the fielding mistakes were mostly from the veteran Byrnes. And I don't think you can claim there was a general sense of apathy.

I don't think Byrnes' problems were mistakes as much as not being able to come up with tough catches. But Drew, CoJack, Tracy...they made real errors.

And you're right on the apathy thing, I guess it's too early to say that. But I'm pretty sure it will get to that point.

I'm so tired of Jackson...I don't care what tools he "might" have..he never uses them. His defense is probably the worst in the league at his position and he can't hit worth a damn for a corner infielder. Get rid of him please!

He's not a big enough name to bring in anyone immedietly team changing. Unfortunatley.

Please. Conor Jackson is one of the biggest young talents in all of baseball, if Byrnes placed him on the market today he'd have calls from a dozen general managers tomorrow.

All the more reason not to trade him. He is a top young talent and deserves more time then this to decide his future with the club.

Indeed. He's a guy the team can't afford to lose patience with too soon.

I agree we need to be patient w/ Jackson, even though is defense is horrid. However, to me, Tracy is another story. He isn't going to get any better, if the team can move him midseason, I hope they do.

What makes you think that?

How come everyone seems to see that except his bosses?

And if they do see it, why are they allowing it?

D'back Minor League managing sensation Chip Hale not managing, but waving runners around as 3rd base coach? What's going on here?

We're 3 games into the season. There is plenty of time to improve and make adjustments. We will see how we fare this weekend against quite possibly the worst team in the MLB, the Nationals. Still, even if we don't quite have it together then, again the season is long and there's no need to give up on the season just because we started 1-2. We could easily be 2-1 right now and we didn't even play all that great in the Rockies series.

I was coming here to say almost the exact thing.
