The college basketball season rolls on as the NCAA Tournament hits Elite 8 weekend but for the North Carolina Tar Heels, the offseason is starting to heat up. UNC has already lost two players to the transfer portal, and there are still questions about the roster for next season.

But Saturday provided some good news, albeit small good news.

San Diego State guard Nick Boyd has drawn interest from North Carolina and is on campus Saturday afternoon visiting Chapel Hill. That could lead to even more good news for the Tar Heels if he eventually commits.

Inside Carolina first reported the news on Saturday morning, stating that he's emerged as a candidate to fill a big need for the Tar Heels at the guard spot this offseason. With Elliot Cadeau entering the transfer portal and RJ Davis out of eligibility, the Tar Heels now have a need at the guard spot.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals last season with the Aztecs, playing in 31 games.

Prior to last season with the Aztecs, he played three seasons with Florida Atlantic including starting 37 games on the Final Four run that the Owls made as a redshirt freshman.
