With the spring transfer portal window open, the opportunity is there for the North Carolina Tar Heels to add to their roster for the upcoming season. It's no secret that UNC has been active in the portal looking for more additions and they could add to the quarterback room.
But are they interested in the top player in the transfer portal?
With Tennessee's Nico Iamaleava making the decision to enter the portal after a shocking turn of events, the Tar Heels could be a contender to land him. They have been looking to add another quarterback to pair with their room that includes veteran Max Johnson and freshman Bryce Baker.
On Monday, the Tar Heels actually picked up a crystal ball prediction for Iamaleava on 247Sports as FSU insider Brendan Sonnone logged the pick during the morning. It's a little surprising despite UNC's need for a quarterback as Iamaleava left Tennessee after asking for a bump in his NIL revenue, seeking $4M.
On3's Pete Nakos mentioned UNC, Tulane and UCLA in his recent piece, connecting those teams to the talented quarterback.
It's hard to say for sure if UNC will push to land the quarterback despite the need. Will Bill Belichick be able to meet the NIL needs of Iamaleava?
I guess we will soon find out.
