good lord, is this comment really necessary? Or the comment about "I can't see how you were bored" - it's like you're trying to paint the guy as some kind of commie ***** because he didn't like the movie.

Not liking the movie isn't an indictment on not caring about what happened on that day, which the above infers. A LOT of people can't STAND Paul Greengrass films and his shaky-cam type film which he's patented for. Personally, I thought the movie was gripping, but I can see how a person couldn't. I mean did you see World Trade Center? Do you feel sorry for me that I thought that was movie was just completely hamfisted, melodramatic, poorly written trash? Or what about The Passion of The Christ, which IMO, was well shot and beyond that, one of the biggest wastes of cinematic space I've ever seen. Yeah! One long second act of some guy getting the ever living piss beaten out of him - no set up, no ending - sure it was hard to watch, but if you beat a puppy for three hours, it would be tough to watch also. That's what happens when you tell a story completely out of context, which in essence is what Flight 93 was. Does that make you feel sorry for me, as if I'm some kind of Christ-hater or something?

This movie was BASED on a true story, but almost EVERYTHING on that plane was completely made up, just like The Perfect Storm - are people idiots or do you feel sorry for them if they didn't like that movie either? I mean, it was based on a true story.

good lord - what a bunch of judgemental morons. It's a movie - A MOVIE - not a documentary, and pace, acting and story can divide people in different ways, but to say you feel sorry for someone because they didn't get into this is just flat out freaking stupid.

:lmao:

Could be one of the more comical rants I've yet to see on this board... Nice job Cheese!!!

Can we change the thread title to whichever of the two movies this thread is supposed to be about? United 93 is one movie, Flight 93 is another. I'm totally confused about which one half the people are referring to.

yeah, I was on a roll last night.

my apologies to the board for the rant, but the intent remains the same - damnning someone to the point of feeling "so sorry for them" is pretty ridiculous based off someone's opinion of the dramatization of a true story. You can do more damage with one sentence than you can with a entire paragraph and my rant is testament to that!

and folks, just 'cause a story is a true story doesn't mean the story teller knows how to tell the story well.

That's true Cheese. Was it a great piece of film making as art? Not really (IMO). Did it move people and touch them emotionally? Clearly yes.

What's so bad about that?

Uh, nothing. River, go back and read what I wrote - I myself said that I thought the movie was RIVETTING. My damnation/rant wasn't about the movie, it was about a defending someone from a certain poster who chose to slam them simply because they didn't like itand found it boring. Sorry, but when someone says "I feel so sorry for you", that's a pretty fat insult IMO.

most of that probably got lost in the rant.

Exactly... I can understand and appreciate not enjoying the "acting"... But being "bored"?? It's one of the most compelling stories ever told, and you're "bored"?? Sorry, I just don't get that...

I don't care how much you disliked the "making" of the movie, the story demands your respect and compassion... I pity anyone who can't find it in them to offer that much to this story. Be unhappy about the poor acting all you want, but bored??

thanks Cheese.

I did have a nice response typed out but decided it was pointless. I stated I didn't watch the entire movie because it bored me for all the reason Cheesebeef pointed out. I said maybe I should watch it all. Maybe my opinion would be different but I highly doubt it. Nobody has really given me any compelling reason to watch the entire movie other than it was emotionally moving. Well, no kidding. The entire events that took place were emotion so why do I really want to relive all that BS? To honor the victims? C'mon.

I find it infinitely amusing that you feel sorry for me, 82CardsGrad, simply because I said I was bored with a movie. You know nothing about me and for you to make such a statement is pretty ridiculous and shallow. Do I care? not in the least. I feel quite sorry for you not being able to realize that not every person agrees with your same thoughts and feelings. Thanks for feeling sorry for me but I don't really need your pity or any for that matter. Get over yourself.

dude, are you ********? Did you not see that I thought the movie was RIVETTING, but I can see how someone else could find it boring. It was shot, with purpose, documentary style and while that appeals to me and apparently you and others on this board, there's a TON of people, that regardless of the subject matter just don't get into watching that type of film. And that's not just proven here, but look at the difference in the box office success of the two 9/11 movies that came out last year - the no name, stripped down, docu-style movie made pennies compared to the big budget, Oliver Stone directed, Nick Cage starring piece of melodramatic trash World Trade Center - there's a reason for that and it's because Stone's film was more accessible to people because it was more of a "movie" and thus, even though it was a much inferior film, it more than DOUBLED the Box Office take of Flight 93.

a good story can be boring as hell - regardless of whether that story is true or not. I mean, Schindler's list was based on a true story and as one of the tribe who's ancestors were slaughtered during the Holocaust, that movie is very near and dear to my heart, but I surely wouldn't pity anyone who didn't like it and do you know why? 'Cause it's a freaking movie! Different strokes, for different folks. Hell, just look at the TV version of United 93 - have you seen that? It made me want to vomit and I don't know anyone else who could sit through it - it's all a matter of opinion and to pity someone because they couldn't get into the storytelling - which is what the movie was - a story from one's man's perspective.

I can understand saying you doubt someone's movie tastes, fine - but you completely jumped over that and fully doubted the person HIM/HERSELF and that just seems wayyyy out of bounds on a relatively happy movie message board.

I am getting to watch this movie right now. Been trying to get myself prepared for about two weeks.

Edit: I'm not five seconds in and I am already ticked off just hearing the language spoken.
