Unpopular opinion: The offense will be overperform while the D will do the opposite. Thoughts?

Quite a few concerns right now the D

Stopping the run with our Dline and MLB's

TE's open for easy yards

Screens, how do we close in and stop them?

Scrambling QB's

Just to name a few. We have a new D coach so it may take a while for everyone to be on the same page. But I'm not sure we have the players and depth for it to work.

I'm more concerned with individual play/& which players flash than I am comparing offensive and defensive units.

One concern overall: Tackling.

I’m counting on Wilkes to improve the tackling - don’t think anyone knows anything yet - vanilla defense in preseason. We have a great core of players on both sides of the ball - really only thing people can put a hat on is the fear that Bradford will get hurt - chicken little syndrome - if he does Rosen era begins and it’s a fact that I have faith in Glennon also - as a low end NFL starter - which our core of great players can win with.

I think we could be top 10 defense and offense - and make the playoffs and make a run at the Super Bowl as easy as we could go 8-8 depending on luck and injury - as usual for most teams - I am a homer and ain’t going to apologize for that.

Depends on the expectation. I anticipate the defense is going to regress this season. Underperforming that expectation would mean beating worse than Top 15. I’d be surprised if that happened.

I expect the offense to regress toward the mean in the opposite direction. Even if David Johnson is “only” one of the top 10 backs in the NFL this year, we’re not going to be the worst rushing offense in the NFL. I still expect them to be a bottom 15 offense, either because Rosen is starting or because Bradford reveals himself once the games start being meaningful.

It’s more likely, IMO, that the offense outperforms a bottom 15 expectation than the defense outperforms a top 10 expectation.

IOW, I don’t expect this team to win 10 games scoring 30 points a game and allowing 24.

I think this is a 6-8 win team.

It's a whole new scheme with new coaches gonna take some time.

The defense is super banged up tonight just hoping no one gets hurt.

Pretty much me watching Bradford play: oh god oh god oh god no no no...whew that was close ok next snap

I agree.

I am really not liking our linebackers right now. I still think our cb's are weak. Nkemdiche and Mayowa are weak links on the D line.

I hate to say I am kind of expecting a below average Defense right now.

The offense looks better than expected to me. I now actually think our WR's and TE's should be ok, and our Oline appears to be run blocking very well.

I see a long year. I see a conservative defensive coach with limited offensive weapons trying to run the ball against 8 in the box and short passes. I see a new defensive scheme with no depth and a weak LB corp. Sprinkle in a tough schedule and let's get ready for next year.

If the Cardinals can get their offense going, I'm optimistic about the season.

Too early to tell but we're running the perfect offense for both Bradford and Rosen IMO. Bradford is very accurate and gets it off quickly, and with an unknown OL ability right now that's ideal, get it out fast to protect him. I think the general idea is obvious, ride DJ and Edmonds, quick short passing game. Rosen isn't going to be as accurate or as quick to read the defense as Sam is but if he has to play I think that sort of offense will be easier for him as a rookie.

I am concerned with the defense, PP and Chandler Jones are pro bowl types but outside of maybe Budda, I'm not sure if the rest of the defense is all that talented. It'll take some good coaching and Bynes and company at LB are going to have to be better than expected.

I really can't tell anything from watching pre-season vanilla offenses & defenses. Our starters have barely played on offense. Our defense hasn't faced a starting QB & only 1 good RB in Ingram from the Saints. The forced turnovers have been great in preseason though.

I see the potential for solid to great play on both sides of the ball, but there's no way to know anything for sure until the real games start.
