Some years ago part of the brick wall of Wrigley Field was torn down for expansion for seats. The bricks were then sold to fans. You could have your name or what ever on the brick and then the bricks were used to make side walks or gathering places near the front entrance to Wrigley. I figured that was a better investment than a tombstone so paid my $225 and received a notice of exactly where my brick was and a duplicate brick. I grew up in a town of about 5000 in the northern suburbs of Chicago (Highwood). I had my name, year, and Highwood on my brick.
Yesterday I received a long letter from a guy who lives in Highwood. He enclosed a picture of my 8th grade school class, my high school graduating class and list of all my former classmates who still lived in Highwood. How he did this just from a name and a year took some research. It seems that about half of my grade school class of 1946 still live in the little town of Highwood.
How he saw this brick out of the thousands or tens of thousand that must be on the ground in front of Wriglley is a long shot. He said as he came out of the gate he saw the name Highwood and stopped and made a note. I have not been back there in over 40 years. This is not football but the football Cards did play in Wrigley as I saw them play the Bears there in years past.
This all seems like a real long shot to me.
