This one may be closer than it should be with Nic Wise out. Look for a huge game from Bayless. Go Cats!

Congrats ASU on the win. I blame Kevin O'Neil on this loss. He let the Devils back in the game by keeping Hill on the bench. Pendegraph was having his way underneath. O'Neil made no adjustments. Why not go to a zone? I can't wait for Lute to come back because KO is not the answer. Today showed this team has no true point guard without Wise. Once again, congrats on the win.

Hill being out too long sure, but you can't play 3 on 5 on offense and expect to win.

The recruiting failures of the past are killing them now when guys like McClellan and Dillon are playing big minutes.

Someone get Jamie Dixon on the phone. And get rid of Stoops and Livengood while we have the pink slips out. KO will never be forgiven for this nor should he be, his game plan was horrific. Anyone who gets outcoached by a guy who has been to one Sweet 16 in over a decade of coaching doesn't belong on the Arizona sidelines.

You also can't kee p playing man to man when a 6'7" guy is covering Pendergraph. O'Neil has been a mediocre head coach his entire career. He had two decent years at Marquette. Look at how many times he has been fired in his career. No one with his credentials should be coaching the UofA. Livengood needs to be fired first.

I don't blame him when the talent he has to work with isn't much good.
This is a top 25 team talent-wise, probably a 5-7 seed and Round of 32 or 16 just on paper. Yeah, there's little depth and there has been a systemic change but no way this team should get beaten twice by a very mediocre ASU team. Beating your rival is huge in college sports and KO is 0-2.

Not going zone today was some of the worst coaching I have ever seen. Harden had no legs, Abbott hasn't hit anything in a month, and nobody else on ASU can shoot and we went man and kept getting abused inside. Pathetic coaching.

Oh bullcrap. Just a few weeks ago you UA guys were bragging about your superior talent. And blaming this loss on the coach is nonsense.

You just got out-played. That's two in a row now. Get used to it.

The Cats did get out-played, for sure.

When I say talent, sure Bayless, Budinger, and Hill are good, but the rest of the team is not any good. When one of the three previous named players is off the team struggles, when it's two of three they are absolutely screwed.

EDIT: And I don't remember bragging about superior talent.

Lose one. Fire everybody. Bring back the has-been. Come on, don't overreact.

The PAC is proving to be THE top conference. You just got out-played today.

So you lost your point guard. Other teams overcome these things. Enough whining.

Because you posted this, please backup your statement. Where did we mention the Cats has superior talent? I will be waiting.

KO definitely gets most of the blame today. The guy has said he will never go to a zone and because of his ego, he stayed with the man-to-man defense and Pendergraph had a field day. Also, he kept Hill on the bench the entire time ASU made their comeback. He should of brought him back in. I don't care if he had two fouls on him.

You ever heard the term sore winner Skkorp?

We'll be fine, we'll sneak into the Tourney this year and have a top 5 recruiting class coming in this fall. Once Stoops and Livengood get canned after the upcoming football meltdown we'll see what direction the hoops program goes in but I doubt it's KO going forward (his abrasiveness rubs a lot of people the wrong way and he allegedly really pissed off Lute a few weeks back in Houston) and we have the cash to give pretty much every coach in the country a raise.

The Cats need to sweep the Bay schools this week or I don't think they will get an invite to the tournament.

If the Cats go .500 in the Pac they're getting in.

And Lute coming back for one more run is pretty much the only shot we have of certain guy(s) staying out of the draft. One more year Lute with these guys, then the new AD can choose your successor with your input.

you could see it on the UofA players faces... They gave ASU a Haymaker in the first 10 minutes, and expected them to go down...

As soon as ASU took UofA's best shot (Bayless playing out of his DAMN MIND), ASU started coming back, and the non-verbal communication of all the UofA players was obvious..

I think the loss of Wise REALLY hurt, often they looked lost, and out of sync....

The bottom line is this was a win BOTH teams needed badly, and ASU without their top player (he played... but not even close to the level hes been on) they came out with a HUGE win....

Also, I find it HILARIOUS how quickly everyone turns on KO... On the broadcast they said he was considered 1 of 3 "untouchables" in Tucson, along with Sean Elliot and Lute.... Now You guys want his head on a platter... lol

Go DEVILS!

This was not a must win for the UofA. Their RPI is in the top-5. ASU needed this win because their strength of schedule is very bad. They need to finish strong to have a shot at the tournament.

I do agree missing Wise is going to hurt them. He is the only true point guard on the team. As for KO, I have never been a big fan. The guy is too stubborn and hotheaded. Everytime you see him on TV it looks like his head is going to explode. I sure hope that ESPN magazine article is correct about him wanting to go back to the NBA soon.

They way they lost to UCLA, the loss of Wise, and the upcoming Schedule, this was a HUGE game for UofA....

You UofA fans can spin it any way you would like, but its this psychodynamics of college sports.. Without wise, you lose a dominant 3 point threat, and a true PG... The lasting effects of blowing a 16 pointlead at home, to your most hated rival who most people assumed you would roll, can have a carryover effect, and if you lose to Cal now at home on Thursday, a Stanford Showdown next Saturday, could be the make or break of the season, a Loss to them, and all of a sudden, UofA has lost 4 straight, are 15-10 (5-7) in the Pac-10 heading up to Washington....

ASU is in the SAME boat, along with USC, Cal, and Oregon... thats 5 teams FIGHTING for the Tournament lives over the next month, with a max of 3 getting in... (I don't think there is any way they get 7 teams.. IMO).. and each one CAN'T afford a losing streak of any kind now....

Should be exciting!

Hello Rock Bottom:(

Speak of never recovering I will never forgive Chase for this half a$$ effort in this game.

You can tell Bayless understands the rivalry and played intense from the get go. Chase has a new nickname. "Ghost"

If the season ended today, the Cats get in and ASU doesn't. The UofA needs to go 500 in the last eight Pac-10 games. What will be interesting is to see if O'Neil makes any changes on defense. UCLA and ASU proved the Cats can't defend down low in man to man when they are up against a bigger guy. Lopez will be a handful again. Also, let's see which Chase shows up. Today once again showed he is too inconsistent to be considered a lottery pick this year.

Chase seems to be your typical southern California player. He plays too soft at times. Does not have that killer instinct. He has been a no-show the last two games. He needs to show up against both Bay schools this week.

- Chase Budinger is a huge disappointment, in my mind. Based on his high school cred, I thought he'd show up every game with tons of energy. He left his game in So Cal.

- One thing I've noticed in regards to UA basketball, is that their conditioning program used to be A-1... but no more. No other U in the country stressed this more than UA. Now, I see sickly and gangly scrubs coming off the pine.

Somewhere along the way, the importance of conditioning got lost. Or, wasn't pushed hard enough. Perhaps this is a sign that the program is really lost.

Ask a Kenny Lofton or Matt Othick about the conditioning program they had.

- Bayless is Eddie House X2. He'll basically be a score machine at the next level. However, he still has to get better at getting his teammates involved. After all, he'll be asked to play PG in the NBA.

- The non-help on the weakside lob was Juco"ish". The help was late and the adjustments were none. No way that happens over and over to a well-coached team. Another sign that the program is becoming lost.

- A lot of U of A fans discounted Derek Glasser. He may not be the most athletic guy out there, but the kid knows how to win. Just check his high school resume. UofA would love to have him right now... especially Jordan Hill.

- KO looks like a nervous wreck. And, I think it's rubbed off on his current players (who are not his).

- Herb Sendek looks cool, calm, and collected. It's obvious what kind of affect he has on his players.

I am starting to get a little irritated with these ridiculous comparisons for Bayless. We all follow the NBA as well, right? We al understand what scouts look for in potential pros, right? We all can see he is already a projected top 10 pick after ONE YEAR, right? We all realize his explosiveness, basketball IQ, ridiculuous stroke, and advanced defensive game are NBA ready, right? If he was 6'6 instead of 6'3 he would be #1 no doubt. As it stands I see him playing a DWade/Arenas type role in the NBA as well.

I know we lost this game (and trust me I am despondent) but if I hear Bayless compared to one more fringe NBA player like Eddie freaking House I am going to go postal.
