I am starting to get a little irritated with these ridiculous comparisons for Bayless. We all follow the NBA as well, right? We al understand what scouts look for in potential pros, right? We all can see he is already a projected top 10 pick after ONE YEAR, right? We all realize his explosiveness, basketball IQ, ridiculuous stroke, and advanced defensive game are NBA ready, right? If he was 6'6 instead of 6'3 he would be #1 no doubt. As it stands I see him playing a DWade/Arenas type role in the NBA as well.

I know we lost this game (and trust me I am despondent) but if I hear Bayless compared to one more fringe NBA player like Eddie freaking House I am going to go postal.

Let me clarify. I wrote Eddie House X2... means means he's twice the player Eddie is or was.

Bayless is somethng special. However, we all know how a talented player's "weakness" can get exposed in the NBA. Just look at Jason Kidd.

Yeah, the next time Eddie House creates his own shot will be the first time. Jerryd has the ability to create a shot for himself whenever he wants thanks to his athleticism and the ridiculous vert he gets on his J.

Jerryd either scored or assisted every FG by Arizona today. Great performance by him, pathetic one by his teammates.

I thought "Eddie House X2 "was some sort of robotic nickname Devil fans were giving Casa. :)

I know Eddie House had a good college career but I think comparing him and Bayless is like comparing Larry Bird and JJ Redick. Not that Bayless is anything near the Legend but he has a chance to be a multiple All Star and House goes to teams with no depth purposely so he can get burn.

Apples and Oranges really.

Of course I would much rather be discussing a UA win then this Bayless crap anyway for what it's worth.:(

Until Bayless has a 10 year NBA career then he has nothing on House. House led the Pac in scoring and holds the single game scoring record on top of playing for far worse teams than what the kats have now and if you think KO is bad think about Evans as head coach. Bayless is very good but is def a tweener as of now and there have been plenty of examples of things not working out as planned. Especailly UA grads oh wait has any rat player with skills post Kerr go to class? I mean players with Pro ambition using AU for 2 years then gone like the JC they are.

This is my first venture into the UA forum as I vowed to never come in here in fear of turning into one of "those" ASU fans who talks smack and rubs it in y'alls face that we won blah blah blah. However, I had to come in here and say this...Bayless is absolutely insane! A straight ice water in the veins assassin. I am so glad that ASU will almost certainly never have to pay against him again (unless the pac-10 tourney permits). Furthermore, as the biggest Harden supporter I have to admit Bayless certainly has him beat right now. However, in closing I must still say.....GO DEVILS.

Jerryd Bayless damned near did the impossible by beating ASU all by himself, with no help. The guy is freakishly good.

That's why he'll be a Cat for maybe one more year. Enjoy him now. He won't be around for long.

As far as UA making the tournament, I'm not so sure any more. Without a true point guard now and showing major chemistry problems (just like last year,) a big dance bid is shaky.

Barring a losing streak to end the year they'll make the tourny, just right now it seems like they won't last long.

Which is a shame, because I really would have liked to see what this team could have done if it was healthy all year. I mean, they finally get Bayless back and then Brielmier and Wise go out.

Mao, weren't you downplaying Wise' ability the first time around?

I still can't believe a UofA team could only muster 15 points outside of one player. ASU did play good defense, but that doesn't explain all of it.

I downplayed his ability compared to Jerryd Bayless and I was 100% correct.

Funny how you mention hot shot recruits though. Arizona has exactly four players on their entire roster that are impact Pac-10 players and two of them weren't even ranked coming out of HS (ASU has roughly the same amount depending on Ty Abbott's streakiness that night). One of them is out for the rest of the regular season if not longer, two had poor games on Sunday, and the other was spectacular. That's why they lost, their recruiting has been horrible and when the guys who can play have off nights it becomes glaring as there's nobody to replace them. Nobody can win going 1 on 5 although Jerryd gave it a pretty damn good effort.

Thankfully unlike ASU, Arizona is recruiting at an elite level again and the 2008 class which still isn't finished looks to be among the best in school history. Now the key thing is getting three of the four contributors back to establish some continuity. Jerryd's obviously the most important piece but he also would be the highest pick by far.

Hill being out too long sure, but you can't play 3 on 5 on offense and expect to win.

The recruiting failures of the past are killing them now when guys like McClellan and Dillon are playing big minutes.

Bingo...

This loss isnt on KO, UA knew what was coming when ASU had the ball, they knew the plays that were going to be run and KO told/showed them all week how to defend them. No rotation and a great game by Glasser and Pendergraph. It didnt even matter if Hill was on him, he dominated in the 2nd half too when they went to the side pick and roll/backcut. Hill playing with 2 fouls int he 2nd half cant play much defense anyway.

Oh bullcrap. Just a few weeks ago you UA guys were bragging about your superior talent. And blaming this loss on the coach is nonsense.

You just got out-played. That's two in a row now. Get used to it.

The talent level on this UA team is the worst it has been in years. Granted Chase, bayless, and Hill will play in the NBA, only one of them shows up for every game and is ready to play any minutes in the NBA.

Our bench is terrible, we have nobody in the post. Our recruiting lapses over the past 4 years have been killing us and you can clearly see it this year. We have 2 top flight recruits (Chase and Bayless). Horne just doesnt fit into this system at all, Brett is our second best post man and he is a walk on, Fendi has no position and should not be on this UA team, Dillion is a decent role player who should not be counted on for 30+ minutes a game.

ASU outplayed us in both games, its not hard to see. There cant be any blame on KO, when Bayless is the only player to make more than 1 field goal. Defensive lapses or not, we still had a shot to go to OT, despite the terrible efforts of everyone besides Bayless. KO cant make the shots or get the guys to rotate.

You guys can keep complaining about a zone, but you will not see one, so get over it. KO is teaching them how to play defense and it takes more than 1 year.

Lose one. Fire everybody. Bring back the has-been. Come on, don't overreact.

The PAC is proving to be THE top conference. You just got out-played today.

So you lost your point guard. Other teams overcome these things. Enough whining.

I agree 100%, quit whining about this season. Some of you guys think that just because we have Arizona on our jersey we are a top 10 team. Face it, when we arent at full strength we arent that good. Its not hard to see and it is a reality.

Losing Wise was a huge loss, but we cant expect to walk into every game and win just because of our history. Everyone but bayless played terrible, that is why we lost. Its not KO or the coaching.

If the Cats go .500 in the Pac they're getting in.

And Lute coming back for one more run is pretty much the only shot we have of certain guy(s) staying out of the draft. One more year Lute with these guys, then the new AD can choose your successor with your input.

Yup, last week some had us as a 4/5 seed. If we go .500 we get in at the 8/9 spot again. Lute coming back will be huge for next year. He is the difference between a final four run and another season with question marks.

They way they lost to UCLA, the loss of Wise, and the upcoming Schedule, this was a HUGE game for UofA....

I think this game was a must win for our pride. These guys are going to have this sweep branded on them for a long, long time. This wasnt a must win game for our tournament bid, but it was a huge game for our pride coming off that UCLA domination.

Im not even going to comment on the Bayless stuff, its just stupid.

His game speaks for himself, his draft position will speak for himself. He has proved to NBA scouts and GMs all year that he can come into the NBA as a combo guard and be successful and has the potential to cross over to the PG position. Tweener or not, he can play the D-Wade role on any team. Not saying he is as good a Wade, but that same scoring, ball handling, creating his own shot role.
