Stanton aint got nothing to worry about, he signed up to be a back up and the cash flow shows it. I seriously doubt we have any real interest in the sumo sizzurp, but if they like him it better be for the league minimum or less if possible.

Consider the source. This offseason has been filled with conjecture and speculation about every available QB coming to AZ. The Russell speculation also surfaces in 2010 with Leinart and DA in the mix. today, it makes even less sense now that we have Palmer at the helm.

It isn't Stanton who would leave. Hoyer would be the odd man out because he has no guarantees in his contract. We could cut him right this second and not owe him a single penny. With JaMarcus, you can sign him for less than Hoyer and still have a legit QB battle (for 2nd string) with Stanton. I'd be all for this move.

I'd disagree with that. At 27 years old, he is still young. I'd be interested to see what a pair of "QB guru" could do with JaMarcus Russell. The guy can throw the ball. His problems are all in his head (and belly). It'd make the 2nd string QB battle interesting between him and Stanton, that's for sure.

Reportedly the Cardinals and Bears are "showing the most interest". No definitive reports on workouts.

Why in world would we be interested in bringing him here? Where did all of BA's love for Stanton go?

Meaning we actually answered the phone. Can't fault Keim too much on this given he's still new on the job and didn't have Jamarcus' number blocked yet.

Go Cards!!!

This, because he would not be remotely the starter and there would be no rush to insert him in the lineup, not much of a risk and he would be tutored by some guys who know QBs. Hoyer is not going to get any better than he is and why not roll the dice for basically nothing on a guy who does have some talent :)

Wouldn't be surprised if Hoyer is traded for a late pick at end of month.

The Cards need someone to administer painkillers in delicious elixir form once one of our RB's blows out a knee.

This was Keim and Co's first shot at snookering the media.. Seems to have worked out quite well. I can hear them all his office laughing their asses off.

I hope that DraftInsider report is wrong.

Unless we can turn the dude into a TE or short yardage/wildcat RB dude, I can't for the life of me understand why we'd want to waste time & energy on a 300 lb. former QB.

The only thing I can figure is that BA sees a similarity between Jamarcus and Big Ben - but Roethisberger has a proven record of success whereas Russell has a track record of disappointment.

Why wouldn't the Cardinals be interested in a 27 year old QB with rare physical tools at a bargain basement price? I am very skeptical in regards to Russell's desire to put in the work to be an NFL starting QB, but why not kick the tires?

I totally believe in leaving no stone unturned in regards to the QB search. Also, if you can get even a decent fix out of Russell, he does then have trade value. Maybe Arians gets him to look like a decent QB and we can trade him for a 6th or 7th round pick in the future. You never know, which is why I am happy they are looking at him.

If we're showing interest in this lazy ******, I clearly better be on the Cards draft board in their top 150 players ;)

Seriously wtf :bang:

I heard we are also looking at Rich Gannon, Ken Stabler & Daryle Lamonica.

Something about cornering the market on ex-Raider quarterbacks.

Makes sense.. All we have signed is signed is QB's and DB's pretty much.. And the Oline still goes unnoticed.. But at least we have the draft.. WTF man.. This is just stupid..

This is what happens when you let a ******* coach no one wanted take charge..

I don't understand the line of thinking here. I could go on and on about why signing him would be a smart move, examples: young, cannon arm, potential, etc. But the thing that it boils down too, the thing that is ALWAYS the deciding factor: MONEY.

Hoyer is on the books for $2M dollars this season. If the Cardinals can sign JaMarcus for league minimum, then not only does Hoyers $2M come off the books (cut or trade), but JaMarcus salary wouldn't count against the CAP because he wouldn't have a salary that is top 51. That in turn gives the Cardinals $2M more dollars in CAP room. I don't see a negative thing here other than the possibility that he fails. But how many 3rd string QB's really have a high chance of success?
