update on martay....

about 5:30 PM on tuesday
bob kemp on KDUS indicated that atlanta lost a receiver due to an injury and is now short a receiver...speculation is that martay may go back to atlanta...

bob also said that the unofficial reason that martay left is that mckinnon and shipp got extentions last season and he did not and was pissed off about it....

a caller called in and said that he heard that martay specifically went to atlanta for personal reasons?? the radio hosts said that is not what they had heard...not sure what personal reason is implying..

If we need help on ST and we have several WR injured why not bring him in???

1. he may not want to play here and will play anywhere but here.
2. cardinals may not want him back....

I do not think there is much chance of him coming back...in fact - I would not be shocked is someone like tony martin showed up here before martay...but the most probable answer if someone is injured and out for ahwhile: nate poole or jake soliday.

having said that - martay is the best gunner on punt coverage we have had in awhile - the other good gunner recently was gilmore - but he appears to be too important of an asset to play that role????

well...the falcons signed john lewis, wr from oklahoma state rookie ...looks like martay was not first on their list.

the bengals have 5 receivers on roster with one more on practice squad.

packers signed freeman...

tough luck martay - maybe next week..

by the way..larwence hamilton is 5th on the depth chart at WR, is on the regular roster and is listed as 2nd kickoff returner (for the bengals). Martay is getting passed over for a few undrafted rookied free agents...

Could be that Martay doesn't want to do special teams. Special teamers tend to have a short life expectancy in the NFL>

I can't imagine he has much of a choice, does he? I mean, he wasn't cut for cap reasons. He was cut because he just wasn't good enough to make the team.
