The Oklahoma City Thunder have clinched the first seed. Not surprising considering they've held a double-digit game lead in the standings for most of the season.
The Thunder go on the road to face the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. The national TV game is the final season series matchup. OKC won the first two in convincing fashion.
Less than a month remains in the 2024-25 regular season. Even though the Thunder aren't involved, plenty of heated races for seeding have ramped up as the margin for error gets thinner. Thunder Wire will conduct daily updates on the West's standings until the season ends:
What happened last night?
Pacers 119, Timberwolves 103: A 41-point third quarter by Indiana put the Timberwolves behind by double-digit points. Anthony Edwards struggled with 17 points on 7-of-19 shooting. Minnesota continues to be an inconsistent bunch.
Magic 118, Lakers 106: The honeymoon phase is officially over. The Lakers have lost three straight and their defense is back to being bad. The Magic dominated Los Angeles despite LeBron James and Luka Doncic both playing. The rest of the Lakers' roster failed to show up. Meanwhile, Franz Wagner had 32 points and Paolo Banchero had 30 points.
Mavericks 120, Nets 101: The most shocking news of the day involved the Mavericks. But in a good way. Anthony Davis returned from an adductor strain after being out for nearly two months. He had 12 points and six rebounds in his return. Dallas enjoyed a blowout win over Brooklyn.
Bulls 129, Nuggets 119: The red-hot Bulls continue to mow down West contenders. This time, it was the Nuggets as they continue to be without Nikola Jokic. Coby White went off for 37 points. Meanwhile, Josh Giddey had a near 26-point triple-double. Denver has looked lost without its reigning MVP winner.
Suns 108, Bucks 106: Tied in the final seconds, Devin Booker sealed the result with a game-winner. He drilled in a jumper to push the Suns past the Bucks in a back-and-forth matchup. Kevin Durant had 38 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo had 31 points.
Celtics 113, Kings 95: A blowout loss was clouded by Jayson Tatum's injury. Fresh from his return, Domantas Sabonis recklessly closed out on Tatum on a 3-pointer. He invaded his landing space and caused him to sustain an ankle sprain. Sacramento remains in the play-in hunt and Sabonis' return should help their ambitions.
