Tennessee baseball rose in the rankings after winning a series at Ole Miss.
The Vols are ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY coaches poll and received a first-place vote. UT was ranked No. 1 in the nation for six weeks this season.
UT (31-5, 11-4 SEC) won the series at Ole Miss on a two-run homer from Reese Chapman in the ninth inning Sunday. Tennessee trailed 8-7 before Chapman's homer flipped the Vols ahead for the third time. The Vols won 3-2 in the series opener behind a 14-strikeout start from Liam Doyle against his former team. They lost 8-5 Saturday before bouncing back to take the series, their fourth series win in five SEC weekends this season.
Tennessee lost a series to Texas A&M to open April, its first SEC series loss after winning 12 straight dating back to its first conference series in 2024 against Alabama.
Tennessee won its first 20 games of the season to string together a 22-game winning streak dating back to last season's College World Series. The Vols won the final two games in Omaha to clinch the program's first national title.
It lost back-to-back one-run games to ETSU and Alabama in mid-March before winning eight straight.
Tennessee is ranked in the top-5 of all major polls after its 31-5 start.
