Chris Rolfe stinks...Bob Bradley's starting him in 2 consecutive games leaves me to question how good a coach he is.

Albright stinks too but not as outright awful as Rolfe. Johnson or Twellman should start the second half over Rolfe and Mapp should be ready to come in too.

I am watching it. The flopping is horrid. I know its always been a part of the game, but I don't remember it being this bad. Makes a game that is already difficult to watch almost unwatchable.

Go USA!

That sound you just heard was 50000 people taking off their green shirts and putting on red and blue ones.

Mexico = whiny little *******

What a cheap move by the Mexico goalkeeper after the Donovan goal.

US wins 2-0.

What's the deal with Mexico? Are they always such jerks?

yes. thats why I hate hate hate the Mexican team....especially Blanco and Borgetti.

How classless...not even shaking hands after the game or their cheap shot goalkeeper trying to take out a US player celebrating.

Still don't like Bradley's strategy especially if it involves Chris Rolfe and Chris Albright in future plans.

I thought Mexico played slightly better overall, but the US defense and goalkeeping prevented them from finishing. Although Mexico was unlucky to have the ball deflect off of the ref, it was good to see Donovan make a move to score as opposed to trying to pass it off.

By the way, I hated seeing trash being thrown onto the field toward the US players (it was very clear on a Convey corner at the end of the 1st half). Our players shouldn't have to deal with that at a game ever, much less in a "home" game.

mexico actually looked pretty decent out there and this was one of the cleaner contests I can remember - of course guys like sanchez will always show their true colors and the team as a whole is till whiny and classless - but there was some hope that they could just go out and play the friggin game

really nice to see another shutout here and the US continuing to show that they are the top team in the region - have been for a while

Looks like things might get better for U.S. soccer. Didn't get to watch the game myself (rehearsal). Still, if Bradley is making the kind of idiot, loyalty-driven player selection decisions you describe, I will not be happy with him as coach.

The best thing about it is the US team was so much younger than the Mexican team. Mexico had 3 or 4 starters over 30, our oldest player was Pablo who I think turns 30 this year. Not to mention that we were missing at least 2 starters in Onyewu and Cherundolo.

No more games for the US until March 25th unless they schedule some road matches before then.

I'm still waiting for Jay Demerit to get his chance, he deserves a shot. I'm also hoping that some of our U20's get a shot at a full national team cap soon (like Adu & Robbie Rogers).

They only act like that against the US. This rivalry is one of the best/worst (depending on how you see it.) that I've ever witnessed. It's been kind of like this since around 2000 and it got worse when the US eliminated Mexico in the 2002 World Cup. If you watched the game on ESPN2 you might have noticed Eric Wynalda's comments about Mexico and how they all seem to be negative no matter what. That's because he was one of the more vocal members of the US team back in the day when this rivalry began to become what it is now.
Great game last night though. I follow both teams pretty closely and I was impressed by both squads but particularly with the Conrad and Tim Howard. I'm also glad we're past the Cladio Reyna era. I couldn't stand that guy for some reason and I don't think he deserved alot of the praise he got.

I have to vehemently disagree. Every time I see a Mexican game or highlight, it's all the same, against the US or not.

Yeah just look at the game versus Portugal in the WC as an example, Mexico flops worse than just about any country in the world(right up there with the Italians--who reportedly brought in an acting coach to make it more believable).

Anyone catch all the post game quotes? What a bunch of sore losers...it was nice to see Landon Donovan step up and call them out on it too.

I'm still worried about the US forwards, Bradleys idea of having two 5' 8" forwards to start the game was just stupid. Donovan I'm fine with but Rolfe shouldn't be in the lineup especially partnered with Landon. Twellman or a bigger guy like Cooper with Donovan would have made more sense...I also have to believe had Brian Ching been healthy he would have started. Whatever a win over Mexico is to be enjoyed, no matter the questionable coaching decisions.

I stand corrected. They did behave like a bunch of little b****** against Portugal.....but then again I think I would have played dirty too if I was playing against Cristiano Ronaldo who IMHO is the KING of all floppers. But anyhow, I don't remember the Mexicans behaving badly against Argentina in the WC or in other recent tournaments except for when they play us.
My only point being that there is some serious bad blood between the veterans of the US and Mex and this makes for sweeter victories and a higher instensity during "friendly matches" such as this one.
