My new computer does not have the standard printer cable outlet on it. It came with a new printer that is connected by USB.

I still want to use my old printer, though. I found a USB/Printer adapter cable at the store today, but it was freaking $60.

Do I have any other options? Thanks!

Well, the adapter came, but it is too big (there are too many pins). Any ideas? Is there another adapter I can attach to this one?

It looks like the 36 Female.

Yes, it is an HP printer (1100). Looks like a 25 Male.

Is HP the exception to the standard?

The connector on the printer is a DB25? It will look like the standard parallel port on the back of a computer.

Just make sure you have the right end (male/female) and that one should work.

HP does some different stuff sometimes.

The HP printers I have seen have a high density C36 like the second on down on the like I posted before.
If it is that type then this one would work.

I wouldn't trust Frys to have this stuff but it migh be worth a look.

Yeah, the printer has the 36 on the back. The other end of the cable that connects to that has the 25. I was thinking about connecting to the 25 end, but it's probably better to plug directly into the printer, right?

I think the adapter you posted would work best. I need to have it before this weekend, though, so I don't want to buy online this time. Do you think CompUSA or something would have it?

Fry's would be the best bet to find it locally.

I was looking for but couldn't find a usb/parallel port device. That is something you could plug into your computer via usb then it would have a female DB25 (legacy parallel like the back of a computer) that you could plug your regular printer cable into.

let you know if I find something.
