After getting swept in their first ever Big Ten series vs. Oregon two weeks ago as part of a six-game losing streak, things were looking dire for USC baseball. Since then, however, the Trojans have turned things around, having won back-to-back series and five of their last seven.
This weekend, USC returned home to Great Park in Irvine to welcome Nebraska for a three-game set. After winning on Friday night and falling on Saturday, the Trojans took Sunday's finale to win the series two games to one.
For much of the season, USC's rotation has been led by the elite 1-2 punch of Caden Hunter and Caden Aoki. This weekend, however, it was Grant Govel who stole the show. On Sunday, Govel pitched five shutout innings allowing just four hits to pick up his second win of the season. The Trojans' bats also came alive against Nebraska, scoring at least five runs in all three games.
Next weekend, USC will make its second Big Ten road trip of the season when they travel to Bloomington for three games against Indiana. First, however, the Trojans will host UC Irvine at LMU's Page Stadium on Tuesday night. USC will be going for the season sweep of their Southern California foes, having won their first matchup on the road in February.
