I gotta say I knew USC would lose eventually but figured Cal and Oregon not OSU. That said, man was Steve Smith incredible in this game or what? 258 yards receiving. And while I think Matt is a better QB, you HAD to be impressed with the arm and the guts of John David Booty, he made some incredible throws to try and bring USC back. His biggest problem is he's not tall enough to get away with that throwing motion. They list him at 6'3" but he's been having passes batted down all year because he throws kind of sidearm and negates much of his size. Fitting that the play of the game was a tipped pass on the 2 point conversion. Still 406 yards passing, 3 TD, 1 INT and just refused to give up.

He's taken a lot of blame this year unfairly for USC's lack of big plays(1 20 yard or more TD this year coming in, 29 last year). People seem to forget they lost Bush, White, 3 starters on the OL AND Lane Kiffin not Norm Chow is calling plays. Booty is NOT as good as Leinart, may never be Matt has a special feel, but he's got a stronger arm and is a very accurate passer, I think he'll be a good NFL player if he can solve that throwing angle problem.

But huge win for OSU, really nice to see matt Moore step up in a big game he never gave up after transferring and has become a pretty nice player for OSU glad to see that happen.

Great game. You are right Russ, Booty really impressed me today. Much better than the Nebraska game I last watched him. That was a gutsy throw on 4th and 2 (although I think he may have been out of bounds on the catch) What agreat throw.

In the end though, USC defense was exposed. They cant seem to stop the pass at all and got very little pressure on the OSU QB.

This is also a great win for us WVU fans! The stage should be set now for a Louisville vs WVU showdow for a possible NC birth!

:fans: Now if they lose 3 more, Oregon loses two more and ASU wins out then the Devils can reach the Sun Bowl.

This should help Boise's strength of schedule since we beat Oregon State 42-14....

That was a great game by Oregon St. It also seemed that USC woke up for the first time in about a month in the 4th quarter. I was really afraid they would force OT and then win it. I thought Washington's fumbles were the key to the upset. They were pretty weak.

USC is more talented than anyone, but they actually had players stay around for their senior years...so, the young starters now are just as talented as anyone in the nation, yet they don't have experience...USC is a monster, and they can beat anyone, but this certainly isn't their year...Look out for them next year, and look out for them in whatever bowl game they go to.

That was the first time all season that I actually got to sit down and watch my Beavs play. Awesome game!

Screw USC they deserved to lose more than this one, and I for one am glad all the National Championship talk will go away. They don't deserve to be there this year period, let some other teams that deserve to go have a chance!

Not too sure why so many Pac-10 fans (other than Russ, who is exempted as a UCLA fan) celebrated this loss. USC losing means there will only be one Pac-10 BCS representative, which will cost each conference program around 500-800k in money. That money would be huge for both ASU and UA.

Nah, that wouldn't be "huge". ASU and UofA will disappoint in football just as well without that money.

My question is, how can anyone, other than a USC fan, not enjoy an upset like that? Those are the types of upsets that make college football so great. Most people love to see the underdogs pull off upsets.

To be honest I wish they'd won, I wanted Cal to be the team that knocked them off. I actually think that loss hurt Cal because I think they may be a little less fired up when they play USC knowing USC is not unbeaten.

I just liked the game as AJ said, it's hard not to enjoy a game like that, just when it looks like OSU knocked them out, USC gets up and nearly pulls it out which they've been doing all season. Just great college football.

With what we get stuck watching on Sundays week after week, games like that are really fun to watch.

And another thing, which will make many of you happy, USC's loss kicked Notre Dame in the gut. With the weak Irish schedule the next three weeks, their strength of schedule ranking component will cause them to drop in the polls.

The Irish must finish in the top 12 to be elligible for one of the 5 BCS games and must be in the top 8 to be guaranteed a spot. Assuming Cal beats USC, as I believe they will, even a big margin by the Irish over USC won't put them in the top 12.

ND can get in if they finished ranked higher than a conference champ of one of the BCS conferences. That's how it is for Boise. Boston college is ranked below Boise so we would be in if they picked today.

I have a feeling that that OSU game actually woke up the USC offense. I think they will probably finish pretty strong. But, Cal can still beat them. Marshawn Lynch is a true stud.

It looks like if USC or Cal win out, they're probably in the Rose Bowl against the loser of the Ohio State/Michigan game.

I am not sure if USC needed a wakeup they've been in tight games all year I thikn they simply lack the explosive scoring they had last year with Bush, White, the Ol and that Leinart guy. They're still very good but much younger and less explosive. What they really need is to find a RB who won't fumble, Washington took over because the freshman Moody kept fumbling, and then Washington lost 2 against OSU. Moody is the one guy who's shown the ability to break long runs, 6.2 YPC this year, but Carroll doesn't trust him not to fumble now. ESPN doesn't have reliable fumble stats but I think Moody has fumbled 4-5 times this year in just bits of games I've seen.

Cal/USC should be a really good game.
