We all know he has the capability of being a top reliever in the majors

Whoa, speak for yourself......

Valverde has only shown he can make the 9th inning interesting and be fat. You can only take potential so far until you start needing results.

10 saves and only 1 blown in 2003, 15 saves and 2 blown last year, and didnt he start this season 10 for 10 or something like that? He has the tools, and there have been times where he has been unhittable. He sure hasnt done anything the last month or so, but given what he has shown in the past, I think it is safe to say he does have the capability in him to be a top reliever. I find it more likely that he is closer to the reliever we have seen the last three seasons than he is to the reliever we have seen the last month or two.

Just in my opinion, i think that saves / blown saves do not paint an accurate picture of how effective a closer is. Even without looking at his stats, why does he consistanly lose his job? He's seen 3 active managers and each has handed him the job and he's lost it. I'd like to see how many innings he has gone without allowing a baserunner. Seems to me that every inning he gets into trouble.
