The CW has only committed to 13 episodes this season, not the regular 22, though if it does well then expect it to get those remaining nine pretty quickly. Creator Rob Thomas says "If we're struggling now in our third year, I don't imagine that the fervor of our fans and the very kind response from the press is going to buy us another year. I think we're actually in a make-or-break time now. I think we need to come on in this new time slot and do well".
