The Kansas City Chiefs officially re-signed veteran defensive lineman Mike Pennel on Monday to shore up the depth of their front four ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Pennel, who has played a key part in Kansas City's recent Super Bowl campaigns, is expected to be a major contributor to the Chiefs' defense next season.

While Pennel has never been considered a star in the NFL, his experience and run-stuffing savvy have been a boon for Kansas City in the past and quickly endeared him to the Chiefs faithful.

After inking his new deal in Kansas City, Pennel recorded a brief message for fans that the Chiefs disseminated on their official Twitter account:

With Pennel under contract for another season, Kansas City's front office may not feel the need to target a defensive tackle in the draft next month.

Stay tuned to see how Pennel's signing affects the Chiefs' offseason strategy moving forward.
