Hold onto the ball, Murray!
For an OL, no less! smhWe have too many needs to move up in the first round of this draft, IMO.

Will Campbell | OT | LSU
This offense has multiple needs up front, so a versatile blocker with tons of upside would be an ideal fit. Enter Campbell, a young and somewhat raw prospect with plenty of starting experience at tackle, but also the skill set to slide inside and play guard if necessary. He could make an instant impact at either right tackle or along the interior before eventually replacing Trent Williams at left tackle.
You would draft him for RT. I’m concerned the OL will have a set back next year derailing the running attack and any hoped gains with the passing game. We had a lot of success with our FA at RT last year?I thought we stopped drafting players and moving them to new positions.
We don't need a rookie starter at OG- we need a veteran.
TO THE MOOOOOOON!!!!!!!Bach went all-in on that ban.
C'mon. That stuff was HIGHlarious. People need to relax. Making fun of ourselves, and each other is what makes this world great. Not sure why people can't be civil...
I would have a hate-meter activated if Monti goes CB in the first round. You would draft him for RT. I’m concerned the OL will have a set back next year derailing the running attack and any hoped gains with the passing game. We had a lot of success with our FA at RT last year?
I’ve seen mocks showing Will being picked after pick 10. If there is a run on edge players early and the strong DTs are gone and Will slips a bit, then going the CB or OL route would make sense?
Sign a DT free agent. Draft the best pass rusher with our first pick. Take an o-lineman in the secon.
this sentence right here is the greatest indictment of the Monti 3 year plan. We shouldn't have that many needs at this point with the amount of cap space/draft picks. We have too many needs to move up in the first round of this draft, IMO.
I also disagree with it. Do we still have needs? Yes, of course. But do we have too many needs to trade a first and a third to move up and get the guy we want?this sentence right here is the greatest indictment of the Monti 3 year plan. We shouldn't have that many needs at this point with the amount of cap space/draft picks.
No DT??Here are the holes in the roster that need to be filled by starting-caliber players pending nothing changes before free agency:
ILB
EDGE
LG
OT
That's it! You probably fill one or two of those in free agency.
Honestly? We have Nichols, Jones, and DRob. Definite would love to upgrade and add a depth player or two, but there's not a starter-shaped hole in the roster. No DT??
Man, Nichols and Jones are just bad starters. They were both on ice skates in every game I watched them. I can accept them as part of a rotation, but DT desperately needs an upgrade, and relying on DRob is asking a lot.Honestly? We have Nichols, Jones, and DRob. Completely valid.this sentence right here is the greatest indictment of the Monti 3 year plan. We shouldn't have that many needs at this point with the amount of cap space/draft picks.
I think so. We shall see.I also disagree with it. Do we still have needs? Yes, of course. But do we have too many needs to trade a first and a third to move up and get the guy we want?
Obviously not. Here are the holes in the roster that need to be filled by starting-caliber players pending nothing changes before free agency:

I mean, a top-line starter anywhere in the front four would make all of them look better. I think they can be the eighth or ninth best starters on a playoff defense, but they're not the answer to any question beyond "Who is the most replaceable starter on this unit?"Man, Nichols and Jones are just bad starters. They were both on ice skates in every game I watched them. I can accept them as part of a rotation, but DT desperately needs an upgrade, and relying on DRob is asking a lot.
Good post. Way to move the discussion forward.I think so. We shall see.
And your snark improves it? LOL.Good post. Way to move the discussion forward.
You could provide a list of the additional areas where you believe there was a pressing need for draft picks, obviously. And your snark improves it? LOL.
How else do you move this hypothetical forward?
Not all conversations need to be advanced. If there is a fundamental disagreement, I don't have the time or the energy to convince you otherwise on this one. There are other topics I am more passionate about. It's basically the same reason why I don't argue with my 4 year old granddaughter. You could provide a list of the additional areas where you believe there was a pressing need for draft picks, obviously.
I advanced the conversation with the post you quoted. I'm not sure why the conversational dynamics are difficult to follow here.
Campbell goes top 8 picksI thought we stopped drafting players and moving them to new positions.
We don't need a rookie starter at OG- we need a veteran.
Edge is a bigger need. An upgraded starter at DT is also definitely a need. Otherwise, your list was spot on for me.Honestly? We have Nichols, Jones, and DRob. Definite would love to upgrade and add a depth player or two, but there's not a starter-shaped hole in the roster.
Then why reply at all? Why assert an argument you are unwilling to defend? Not all conversations need to be advanced. Because there are times when you agree to disagree and leave it at that. Then why reply at all? Why assert an argument you are unwilling to defend?
