OK, I may lack some knowledge in the area of football... but I DO know that blitzing the quarterback is a part of football. Sure it's preseason, but what does he expect them to do - not work on their blitzing simply because he's not running? Sorry, no dice.

You could tell though, for some reason that the Ravens were really pumped up for this game. they were blitzing every play early... I guess thats how they do it in Baltimore.

I watched the game and they weren't backing off Boller either

So let me understand this. Defenses are only allowed to blitz running qb's and only on plays where the qb might run???? Someone should let Vinny know in Dallas, at 40 years old I'm sure he will like that.

Everyone's tune will change in a hurry when the Vikings are taking cheap shots at McCown tonight.

I think we'd all agree that blitzing and taking cheap shots are two, totally different things.

It was one freakin play Vick! He was only in for 1 series, first 2 plays were runs by Dunn and the last one was a pass play. He got sacked on that last play with a safety blitz. That's all he played for...

This isn't the probowl where you're not allowed to blitz. It's the preseason, it's there so they can practice and get ready for the season. He wants to be more of a pocket QB? Well, better get used to it Vick.

I agree with him kinda...

It is the first pre season game not the 3rd (when teams try to play as close to live action as possible) and there is no point in doing that when most of the backups on the team arent even comfortable yet with the schemes.

I remember this board erupting a few years ago when Plummer was facing Safety blitzes from the Broncos in the first pre season game. Pre season is vanilla packages to get backups used to assignments, not all out blitzing to kill a QB just coming off surgery. Seems class less to me!

But what do you want them to do? Just because he came off surgery they can't use all the plays in their playbook? If they weren't comfortable putting Plummer out there, then maybe they shouldn't have. Otherwise expect to be hit. In this case it wasn't an all out blitz either. It was a safety blitz that could have been picked up the line. The LBs were playing a zone to contain him. Sometimes players do go out to injure someone, but the Ravens don't even play the Falcons in the season, so I doubt it was even that. Now by Vick whining, people will go after him.

I didint see the gamewhen Vick was in so I dont know what happened. All I am saying, and you can agree or not, is that in preseason when 70-80% are backups who dont know their assignments, the chance of injury is far greater. I understand his beef with it. Has nothing to do with getting hit.

Its more about that rookie LT/RT or RB missing the assignment and letting that blitzing safety have a clean whack at Vick....whats the point??

As far as going after Vick now? Well good luck there is a small select few players that can even stay with him (and most are WR's) so I doubt he is that concerned. He rarely takes a big hit!

He was playing with the 1st team though, he better trust them to know their assignments. This is why a lot of quarterbacks only play for one series. D-coordinators are going to have fun with their playbooks and test plays. They aren't going to let up and they shouldn't. Boller was blitzed too, and expect McCown to be blitzed as well. I have no problem with it. I know some veteran players think preseason is meaningless, but try telling a coordinator that. They should never hold back.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
This could be the stupidest thing ever said....Give me a break Vick, Blitzing is part of defense, either pick up the blitz or throw it away. The 85' Bears used to blitz all the time just like the Bucs, it causes INTs and Sacks.. what a crybaby. And for the Mccown comment if we cant pick up the blitz or if he cant throw it away he deserves to be sacked IMO

I think Vick just likes getting his name in the paper.

He recently announced that he will not cut his hair until he takes his team to the Super Bowl...now he's complaining because a team known for it's aggressive defense - - - BLITZED!! - - -
