Anyone know of a video editor (cheap or freeware one) that allows you to adjust the core brightness and contrast of a video and save it?

My video capture card seems to record video darker than it appears on the camcorder. Thanks.

Are you looking at the video after its captured, or during? Most programs, when previewing video as its capturing, show it darkened.

If the video is dark after you play it, make sure it isn't your monitor--it's possible that it's capturing it darker, but if your monitor is set wrong, then you may mistakenly add more contrast and make the picture look lighter.

If your monitor is fine, then any commercial editor will do the trick--all you need to do is make sure it has filters or a way to alter the video. Most already do except for the basic "Don't-know-anything-about-video" editors that come standard with Windows and OSX.

Go to download.com and see if they have anything that can alter contrast and brightness, there may be something. Unfortunately, I have Final Cut Pro and Avid, so I don't know much about the free stuff.

If you're going back to TV, you should not brighten it. TV naturally brightens the picture. If you brighten it, it will bleed something awful. If it's going to stay on the computer only, then you could brighten it.
