That was the classic no no nice shot play but in football not basketball. He did everything you're not supposed to do field the ball inside the 10 yard line, back up near the goalline on a return etc, but he's so strong and so fast it didn't matter they just can't get him down.
.

At that point, even as the ball was in the air I was okay with him fielding it and returning.

Earlier in the game, the Rams had either downed punts inside the five or PP has fair caught a couple at the ten. I just hated the odds of the Cards O starting inside the 10.

It was such a booming punt and in person you could see that he had some room to at least get across the ten.

I initially thought this return was 100% due to the greatness of Patrick Peterson. However, upon further review, Richard Marshall absolutely erases his man on a block. Urban expanded on that block a bit yesterday.

– Here’s another punt-return rule: Once the gunners reach the 20-yard line, the guys blocking them – in this case on the final punt, A.J. Jefferson and Richard Marshall – are supposed to let them go. Peterson said he told them to hold on to the blocks. Jefferson actually did let his guy go at the 20, but Marshall – blocking on the right side, which is where Peterson went – stayed engaged. Marshall said it’s a lesson long learned.
“We know a couple times, we let them go inside the 20 and Patrick caught it and he could have made some yards and that was on us,” Marshall said. “Those are the rules, but we are going to stay on our man unless he gives us the ‘peter’ call (to get away as the ball bounces) because you never know. Sometimes he doesn’t catch it, and, (expletive), sometimes he catches it on the 1 like he did today.”

Yeah I wanted him to take it out too I'm just saying they teach you not to but as you said if you know it's a long punt then you have that luxury.

I've long since stopped worrying about him getting hurt on PR's either because he's so good at it you are wasting him if you don't let him return them.
