A receiver flew to the Twin Cities on Friday morning.
It just wasn’t veteran receiver Cooper Kupp.
As the Vikings continue to wait for Kupp to make his final decision, they hosted speedy receiver Rondale Moore for a visit at TCO Performance Center. Though it wouldn’t be the splashiest of signings on the surface, Moore could potentially bring some value if he’s able to work himself back to 100 percent.
The speed that Moore brings to the table was the biggest reason the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. It allowed him to make a big impact as a rookie, despite his undersized 5-foot-7, 180-pound frame.
Eventually, the Cardinals traded Moore to the Atlanta Falcons because of injury concerns, and while he was expected to play a key role in their offense, he didn’t play a game last season after suffering a knee injury during training camp.
If the Vikings end up signing Moore at some point, he would add depth to the position while also sliding in as a natural replacement at punt returner. That job used to be held by receiver Brandon Powell before he recently became a free agent.
A familiar face is coming back to the Vikings.
After spending the past few seasons with the Green Bay Packers, linebacker Eric Wilson has agreed to terms on a deal that will bring him back to the place where he started his career as an undrafted free agent.
Though he has proven he can certainly hold his own on defense, Wilson was more than likely targeted by the Vikings because of his ability to make an impact on special teams. Essentially, Wilson should fill the role vacated by veteran linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill.
After not being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, Wilson has carved out a niche for himself at the highest level. He has 400 tackles and 11 sacks across 125 games in his career.
After serving as a rotational player in the trenches for the Vikings last season, defensive tackle Jerry Tillery has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
The loss of Tillery was assumed after the Vikings spent big on defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave in free agency. They should start up front alongside defensive tackle Harrison Phillips.
