I think you're right.

No, he was fired with Mohreningweg, if not before (I think he was DC in the 2001 season, and then took the fall for the horrible performance.

I bet he's an assistant coach at some crappy Texas school, like A & M. ;)

Tobin was fired just after the '01 season... Kurt Schottenheimer (Marty's brother) replaced him....

I had so much pleasure at last year's Cardinals/Lions game asking Kurt where his brother was.....

I think Vinny announced his retirement after the dismissal & the 2001 football season. Say what you will about Mr. Beige he was one in only three head coaches to roam the sidelines during a Cardinal playoff win, not even Don Coryell can say that!:D

I had read a year or so ago that he owned a house in mcdowell mountain ranch in scottsdale and was going to semi-retire and evaluate coaching options if they came up...not sure if he got back into coaching or not..

texas a&m "crappy"?

you know they hired dennis franchione away from bama don't you?

and they were good enough to beat my beloved sooners in college station last year.

I believe they went to a bowl game despite being in the toughest conference in the nation. not exactly what I would call "crappy". tobin would probably be happy to be with coach fran at a&m.

a "crappy" texas school would be SMU, Rice, Sam Houston state etc.

Gotta give him props for that without question. When I think of Mr. Beige I am reminded of the 98' season. What a fun year that was. I'll 'forget' about the following offseason however.

I'm not a Tobin supporter by any means, but I think he gets unfairly bashed in here sometimes.

No, he wasn't the best coach we've ever had, but he managed to rebuild the team from Buddy's disaster, and even got us into the second round of the playoffs.

If we had managed to keep some semblance of tallent on our roster, I think he would have been successful, where an awful lot of previous coaches have failed.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what Tobin's win percentage is compared to Coach Macs???

Mac's record is 13-29. You have to count the season he took over for Tobin. You counted the games that year against Tobin that he coached, it's only fair.
