This was a hallmark Cardinal game.

It was simply one to put into a wrapper and seal up for future generations so that this level of absolute ineptitude can truly be appreciated.

You can't script this kind of comedy of errors, trying to do so would just be cornball.

It is very predictable, the ending play of the game was humilitaing and completely fitting in the finest tradtion of losing that we have elevated to high art.

We are simply geniuses of losing, some people are math whizes, some few have changed the course of human history with the good kind of genius, we however have been blessed with a special offshoot of that phenomena that specializes in sucking out your lifeforce.

I want to congratulate the enitre team for it truly was a team effort, seldom in the history of sports have all facets of a team come together to weave such an unmitagated disaster such a masterpiece of losing, unspoiled by any hints of competence in any way.

That game was a work of losing art!!!

The style points on this loss are simply off the chart, which is supremely difficult to do.

Normal losses are pretty ho hum affairs, in those a team might even be dominated, the score may be 70 to zero and it would never approach the beauty of this gleaming turd.

No this one was a special one folks, it left nigh on hundreds of thousands of steaming fan hearts in the road for the merciful truck that squashed every playoff hope into squishy loser goo.

After the shock of this wears off, something that will suprisingly fast since for this team it's not really shocking but almost expected, people will see it for what it is, the perfect loss a punctuation mark standing hundreds of stories tall for all future Cardinal fans to see.

Great post ... It's so hard to be a fan of this team most of the time, but we are all glutons for punishment

There must be a football god trying to suffer us! "take this you cards fan! Oh you still a fan? How about Rakers' miss FG?".

I will have to agree. In 40 years of watching the Cardinals this was the most imaginative way to lose I've ever seen.

The only thing that could have improved it would have been for Warner to have held on to the ball and they lost on a safety.

I disagree... last years loss on 75's false start penalty that ran the time off the clock was classic. I don't think anything can beat that.

Perhaps Warners fumble to end the Rams game?

No I think staring at a big Olinemen score the only TD of his career in the end zone after missing a field goal moved back by 5 yards has to top that.

I think that was 2 years ago at SDS, but I agree that one was classic.

This one beats that by miles. In the 2005 Rams game the Cards had time for maybe two plays, probably one the way Warner plays in the closing minutes and they were behind. Even normal teams don't have good odds of pulling that out. There was also only one miscue. Today's ending had at least 5.

I guarantee you that many, many teams have played a similar game to what the Cardinals played today. The only difference being that their kicker makes the 30 yarder to win the game. Then all the mistakes are forgotten & the team is ecstatic to be 6-5 & in the thick of the playoff hunt. If Rackers had made the FG against Chicago, do you think we'd still be talking about that 4th qtr. Do you think there would be commercials on ESPN about that game. I think NOT. RACKERS & RACKERS ALONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT LOSS. So let's stop talking about some mystery curse that continues to haunt this team. GET A Great Daned KICKER & THE CURSE WON'T EXIST.

I feel your pain.

However this goes deeper than one kicker.

Neil ODonahue was another incarnation of this same evil, it's a force that spans generations.

It must be stopped.

Rackers sucks yes. Warner sucks too. We should have blown this joke of a mistake football team out of the water. What do we do? One up them in the joke department and drown ourselves.

What turns this pure grape juice into vintage wine is the ending of the Rams game.

It perfectly captured the difference between us and everyone else.

We will get no breaks, we will get no calls, we will get no sympathy.

Oh.... an I have been talking about Rackers for the entire season. We could be 8-3 if he was just "average" at making the kicks we have all come to expect him to make.

I was thinking the same thing. The Rams have 4 shots inside the 2 and fumble on 4th down while the Cards have a FG kicker that can't knock it through from 32 yards. A little twist of fate and both teams are 6-5.

And with a win today the Cards would be in the #6 spot for the playoffs. A must win and the easiest game left on the schedule was completely wasted. Pathetic and just sickening.

This game was a masterpiece like I said.

It's sneaky how truly perfect it was in being just the most horrible result possible.

Our coaching staff was exposed in all facets of game management.

The penalty flags flew with numbing regularity and we simply set new standards in terms of bumbling.

This one is a collectors item.

How about a tootsie roll? Would that cheer you up?

No, a decent damn team would do wonders though.

I'd give up on them if I could, for some damn reason I can't, I'd love to, it'd do wonders for my long term outlook on sports but Mizzou is winning, I'm not fan depressed at all.

Just shocked and amazed at the sheer perfectness of the turd they just deposited on the field today.

I will be shocked if Rackers isnt gone this week.

I see a bit of an exodus next year and I think it will point to this game because of the spiral from here.

Does it make me gay (not that there is anything wrong with it) to want to be the suckee instead of the sucker for once?

A tootsie roll could beat the Cardinals. It would shock them into submission with its chewey yet chocolatey texture, then when Rackers missed a FG the Tootsie roll would run the ball back for a TD for the win!!

Do you know what was really funny?

as the 32 yarder sailed wide left, Barr singled "good" in a desperate attempt to sway the official's opinion.

Hilarious!

Has anybody seen my gun?
