The Angels have really done a good job in improving their team. They have had a great offseason with the acquisitions of Bartolo Colon, Kelvim Escobar, Jose Guillen and now Vladdy Guerrero.

Looks like the Angels will challenge New York and Boston for the AL title.

i'm excited to see this team play here in spring training and try to nab a few autographs from their new stars. It seems like they should be a pretty solid team in every aspect. Great signing for the angels and Moreno.

We'll see how Vlad does switching leagues. Some players have trouble with that, and I can't remember who does better when switching, former AL or former NL. If he can stay healthy, then the Angels will be solid. Their pitching is still not good, and Colon is too inconsistent.

I disagree with Colon. This guy is a stud. He had a very good year last year. The Angels have a very decent pitching staff.

Starters:
Colon
Escobar
Washburn
Ortiz
Lackey

Bullpen:
Donnelly
K-Rod
Percival

I do agree the big question mark is for these guys to stay healthy but injuries play a big part for every team.

Colon a stud?

With these numbers I dont' put him there:

15-13 3.87 ERA.

He does eat up innings, though, I had him at around 7 innings per start. He is a horse, but not a stud. I expect 20 win seasons out of "Studs", and Colon has had only 1 in his career.

Colon is a solid pitcher, but has never quite reached his full potential.

I would love to have Colon as the Diamondbacks #2 guy. An ERA of 3.87 in the AL is very good. I remember seeing games where he pitched last year were he lost 2-1 and 3-2.

The Angels definitely have upgraded their team and should be picked to win the AL West, ahead of Seattle and Oakland.

Not that shabby for the AL... and certainly much better than the retreads that the D'backs have picked up to pad the pitching staff.

Of course I'd rather have him as our number 2 also. But he's not a true ace, in my opinion.

Yes, but is Colon being payed what Reynolds and Sparks are making? No. Therefore the comparison is not there.

Vladimir is such a free swinger, he probably won't be bothered by switching leagues. And the AL is a much more swing-from-the-heels-league than the NL.

Southern California should put him into a more comfortable environment for his Hispanic background than Montreal, too.

I doubt it, he is extremely introverted and shy, and being in one of the largest metropolises in the world may be too much for his personality. While I think he will succeed, it is far from an ideal situation.

He lives with his Mom and eats DR home-cooking, he isn't into night-life at all, he speaks minimal English, and the way the Angels are shaping up, I think he'll be more comfortable there than in any of the other places that were after him. Moreno is assembling a latino All-Stars team - looks like he has a plan. Win the Hispanic fan base, dominate the ALWest, and lower the price of beer. Good for him. Just really glad he didn't buy the Dodgers.
