Some of the passes this guy managed to get off and complete last night with people in his face or while being dragged down was just simply awesome. And his accuracy on the long throw was teriffic. If Bennet hadn't of run out of steam, Volek would have probably thrown for 8 TD's.

Can you imagine how much more effective he could have been with 3 WR's like the Cards have?

As long as he isn't playing behind our O-line........

I dunno. Mason, Bennett, and Calico (who's on IR right now but will be back next season) are pretty good. Volek looked okay, but remember who he was playing against: one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL.

And Volek knows that if he sticks around in Tennessee, he'll get the reigns from the fragile Steve McNair. He looked great last night, but it's a pipe dream to imagine him coming to the desert.

That just makes it easier to compare him to McCown, who threw for a whopping 0 TDs against another of the NFL's worst defenses on sunday. If Volek can play consistently like he did last night, :bhiich:

I agree. Especially with all the talk of McNair retiring, there is no way that Tennessee would let Volek go. He proved his worth last night.

Those long bombs he threw would have been effective against just about any man on man coverage. He had pin point accuracy last night. The question is whether or not he can do it on a consistant basis.

Oh well, it doesn't hurt to dream.

Volek just inked a five-year contract with the Titans last spring. It seems clear that he will be their starter within a couple of seasons. Trading the players necessary to get him makes him a poor option, unfortunately.

Volek was an UFA last spring, we showed some interest, but we put our faith in McCown and Shaun King. It's extremely wishful thinking the Titans would want to trade him because he's dirt cheap and McNair is always banged up.

It seems that lots of teams were interested in Volek, including teams like Atlanta and Green Bay that had established QBs.

True but Volek also has a offensive line that can run block and a guy by the name of Chis Brown who is a pretty good RB. We have neither

Geez, lots of great posts in here yall. Im a day late and a dollar short in getting in on this thread. Thanks for all the compliments towards my Titans. I will try to answer most of you here all in 1 post. Volek aint going anywhere. He is the heir to Steve's throne. During the offseason, he passed up on Atlanta to be Vicks backup. He knows that Steve's time is near, and he would be the #1 guy shortly. He has been Steve's backup for 4 yrs. He knows the offense very well. He is only lacking in game time experience. But, he is gaining that week after week. Let's move onto McNair.....the jury is out on what he is going to do. He is thinking of retiring, but he still wants to win real bad. If he comes back, I don't think he'll want to stay in TN as they are extremely young, and are going thru re-building. So, it is by no means out on a limb to say we could not go after him to come here. He would be a perfect mentor I believe for both Josh and John. Thats what we need here is an experienced vet, one who's close to his end, but still has a few years left. I think Mac would be a perfect fit with Q Fitz and co. And can carry Josh and John up under his wing to set either of them up to take over the throne in a year or 2.

Bring Mac in, we're a few weak links away from winning NOW :bhiich:

Doesn't McNair have a bizarre renegotiated contract that in effect has him signed through 2009 or something? I can't see the Titans cutting such a beloved franchise player, who will probably have ties to the organization in the future. I'm sure any sort of sham trade would be transparent as well. Would McNair be interested in coming here, or would he retire first?

Steve's contract goes thru 2005. But, thats not to say that he can't asked to be released from it. What Steve really does after this year is up to his wife and family. She does not want him to play another year. And neither do his kids. But, if he goes against them and plays, it will be somewhere I think where he can win NOW. And, I think Titans will understand that and let him go, they need help in the cap situation anyway, and they got a good replacement with Volek. Now, where Steve would go??? Where he thinks he can win!!! Coach Green would have to be one heck of a salesman on that one!!!
