Why aren't more teams (like the Cardinals) that draft at the end of the first round try to sign him and give up two late first rounders for one of the best pass rushers entering his prime.

Even if he's paid huge, we won't draft two players that impactful at the end of the first round this year and next combined.

Although after seeing the Verner contract Miller is worth like $30mil/yr using that math. Geez

Yeah the system is screwed up. The restricted tag is supposed to be worth MORE money, because you are restricting them because they are apparently better/more important to you.

...not this year at least.

This year the exclusive tag cost LESS money then the non-exclusive tag.

So yeah, why wouldn't they use the exclusive tag?

I don't know if we would have gone after him, but it was never really an option. The Broncos weren't going to give MORE to him in order to let him test the market.

They have the franchise tag on him, not the non-exclusive tag.

Ya, we could offer him a contract but would have to give up "up-to" 2 first rounders for him. I think the 29th and any second half of the first round pick next year is worth it.

The Exclusive Franchise Tag does not allow for any team to make an offer for him.

I thought they only used the franchise not the Exclusive....but I've been wrong before about something in free agency that has slipped my mind :). Also still wouldn't be a bad idea to float something by them and see how close they are to a deal with him.

Cause if it is the Exclusive they can't tag him next year and need to work out a long term deal.

Behind you
No player is worth 2 first round picks AND a huge contract

If you go that route and the player tanks...the team is going to be in the dumps for 3 years straight.

Hahahaha no worries....luckily this year for me there wasn't a player linked to the Cards early on that I could have mentioned here before it was being rumored about only to have it fall through.

This has been a far less stressful FA for me, not texting nonstop and posting responses here.
