PHOENIX - The Phoenix Suns welcomed back a familiar face today when the club officially re-signed free agent center Jake Voskuhl.
Voskuhl joined the Suns prior to the 2001-02 season after being acquired from Chicago at the end of his rookie season. Last season, he played in 65 games with averages of 3.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot .564 from the field in 14.6 minutes. In the final 42 games of the season, he shot .610 (72-118) from the field.
The three-year veteran hit the game-winning shot with 2.3 seconds remaining in Game 4 of the 2003 NBA Playoffs against San Antonio to seal an 86-84 victory at AWA. In the playoffs, he had an increased role with averages of 6.0 points in 16.3 minutes in six games.
In two seasons with the Suns, Voskuhl averaged 4.4 points and 3.8 rebounds on .559 shooting from the field in 14.9 minutes. Originally drafted by Chicago with the 33rd overall pick in NBA Draft 2000, he played 16 games for the Bulls as a rookie, with averages of 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.9 minutes.
