To be more specific, you need to delete the cookie, and close all your browser windows. Reopen the browser, relaunch the Chunky site and then you can vote again.

I voted about 75 times in 15 minutes using a little system I created. We're up to 1,000 cans. Still in 23rd place, but closing in on 22nd.

You can also click 'Tools' in internet explorer and then select properties. Under the 'privacy' tab there is an 'advanced' button.

In the window that pops up, check 'overide automatic cookie handling' and set both first and third party cookies to prompt. I actually set 3rd party cookies to block. I don't care for gator and other such sleazy companies slipping tracking cookies in while I'm viewing other sites.

This will cause a cookie prompt to appear any time a website tries to set a cookie in your browser. You can refuse to set the cookie, accept it and also check a box to always apply this decision for the website you are viewing.

The prompt will open your eyes as to the number of ad companies slipping tracking cookies into your browser when your viewing your normal every day sites.

At any rate, refusing the campbells vote cookie will let you vote again and again and again and again ect.

P.S. Jon,

Any animosity I have towards your posts is restricted entirely to the one emotionaly charged topic of a name change. I hold no ill will toward you outside of that singular subject. I hope you feel the same way.

I absolutely do and you are a class act for saying so. By the way, I am going to check out your persistent multiplayer environment either today or tomorrow. I've never played one before although I consider myself a gamer and have played on-line point-to-point games before such as C&C and Unreal, etc. The concept of having basic training is a good idea. I have yet to fully understand the concept of clans though.

Using your method, it appears that Chunky is still hanging some code up in my browser's memory cache because I still have to close my browser to able to vote repeatedly.

I don't want to sidetrack this thread so I'll just post one note on the game and let the thread resume it's original course.

It is an old game which a game company I worked for acquired back in 1999. The game company floundered and the game was mismanaged. Myself, another one of the programmers from the game company and two players (ISP owner, and a programmer) from those days reacquired the game from the original developer.

All of the physical components of putting the game in production (server hardware, bandwidth, connection) are now first rate equipment. The game's graphics are not stellar (dated) but the underlying concept and structure of the game are quite unlike anything else. We are working to bring the game graphic engine into the current century so that we can fully exploit what we feel is a fantastic underlying concept. Alas, we have only had the game in our hands for 30 days and Rome certainly wasn't built in less :D

Make sure you remove the original chunky cookie. The above method will not remove cookies that have been previously set.

Also, the browser may be passing information through via arguments appended to the end of the URL. I would assume that they have conceived of fans trying this and have programmed around it but you never know.

I could start a new thread on here with some scripting in it to launch an assault of votes for the chunky site :)

The Cambells site checks your browser to see if cookies are enabled. The site doesn't let you vote if cookies are turned off.

I did that and I got this message when I tried to vote

Clever programmers. Like I said, I wouldn't be suprised if they programmed around people trying to do this.

BTW - we have faded to 26th - 33 cans behind the 49ers, and only 11 ahead of Miami.

Actually another way to do it is if you use more then 1 browser, I use both Netspace and Internet Explorer so you can log onto site from both browsers and double your votes.

It's surpeising to me that some of the smaller market teams are near the top, and some of the larger markets are near the bottom (NY for example). You'd think that this might be a good representation of city populations.
