The Godfather discussion got me thinking... what is the greatest trilogy of all time. If you choose 'Other', please specify below.

Star Wars, hands down.

Of course, if you had put Lord of the Rings, despite the third one not out yet, I still might have picked it :)

I agree totally Mike, it would have been tough for me.

I would have voted for Star Wars had I never seen Attack of the Clones.

Darth Vader went from the baddest dude in the universe to the words whiniest little *****. Lucas is destroying the earlier movies.

No kidding...those were just a superbly done trilogy, Vader being the father, Leia the sister, the way things were revealed, etc.

But Lord of the Rings so far has been to me two of the best "First two" movies of any trilogy I know of...I mean, maybe Godfather 1 and 2 were just as good, if not better, but to me, LOTR just rocks. They are awesome.

As long as Return of the King has the same quality as the first two, it will defintely be my #1 trilogy of all time, and probably be my 3 favorite movies of all time.

Other - I know ROTK isn't out yet but man Lord Of The Rings right now has the edge over Star Wars for me.

I think what's killed my Star Wars allure is the way George has made a mockery of the first 2 movies. Not only that, but the fact that he's not going to release them on DVD in their original theatrical release is highly disappointing. I'd rather he release both the original and the updated version and let the fans decide. I'm nearly done with George and his hacking up a classic.

I had to go with Godfather simply because just by taking 1 and 2, those 2 outweigh any of the other trilogies by themselves. 3 isn't that good, but that's just a bonus when comparing. At least it continues the story.

They were good, but to completely outweigh Star Wars and LOTR...just don't see it...probably a matter of taste I guess.

Must be a matter of taste. Because while I love the LOTR stuff and grew up on STar Wars, Godfather 1 and 2 are the two greatest films of all time in my opinion. The acting, the screenplay the camerawork, the editing, the emotion, all of it. Just unbeatable.

I voted for Indiana Jones, but had LOTR been a choice, that would have been my vote.

I purposefully left out LOTR and Matrix trilogies because it's unfair at this point to judge them while they are incomplete.

As far as LOTR goes, I think i was one of a few that was disappointed with The Two Towers. It deviated from the books a lot more than the first one and did so unnecessarily. I don't remember any specifics right now, but I did read the book a couple weeks before the opening so maybe it was unrealistic for me to have the entire plot fresh in my mind and then go see the movie expecting complete conformity.

Anybody else in the same boat?
