Godfather 2 is my favorite movie of all time, with Godfather in the top 5. Three isn't as terrible as people always say...but measured against two of the greatest pieces of film ever created it looks pretty bad. I don't dislike it at all however.

Star Wars is awesome and all, but Godfather is GREAT. Even with a lackluster (to some people) finale. On the strength of Two and One, Godfather wins this in my mind.

Godfather narrowly beats out Star Wars in my book.

Exactly. Eventhough I think that 3 gets a bad rep, because the first two were just so damn good. I think that the Godfather trilogy beats these.

Godfather
SW IV-VI
LOTR

followed by Matrix, Indiana Jones, and possibly the Bourne series, depending on how good the 3rd one is.

As soon as Rush Hour III comes out I'm totally changing my vote

I think I am one of the few that think GFIII is actually better than most movies. It is lost in the shadow of its predecessors and some pretty bad acting by Sofia Coppola, but still.

I'm going with the Godfather Trilogy. Star Wars a close second.

I didn't like the LOTR movies.

I say (in order:)

Indiana Jones
Godfather
Back to the Future
Star Wars

I don't really think any of those others belong.

Well Godfather 2 was the best sequel ever made but the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is the best 3 picture collection.

Fistful of Dollars trilogy has to get mentioned.

Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

great movies. There has always been a debate between me and my brother as to which movie is chronologically the first....he says Fistful...I say Good, Bad, Ugly.

Good, Bad, and the Ugly (1966)

Check imdb.com.

I know the order they came out, but Good, Bad, Ugly has to be some sort of prequel.

In Fistful and Few Dollars more, the Man with No Name wears that Pancho all the time. But he doesn't start wearing the Pancho all the time until the end of Good, Bad, Ugly.

Godfather was the best 1-2 punch but Star Wars was easily the best trilogy. LOTR comes in a close second, although it will take a decade to realize it.

Those 3 movies aren't really "related". Eastwood plays essentially the same character (although he actually has a name in For A Few Dollars More), but there is nothing that ties any of the movies together. Technically, it's not a trilogy in the traditional sense.

But it certainly is a good set of 3 movies, that's for sure.

Back to the Future III & Godfather III both suck IMO.

Next time you watch BttF 3, think about this.... there's another Delorean in the cave when Marty goes back to 1885. That Delorean probably has some gas in the tank.

Pretty much the same thing with Indiana Jones as well. None of those movies are related. ToD is actually set before ROTLA.

I guess, my two favorite trilogies, aren't even trilogies at all.

I'm pretty sure, that when X3 comes out, it will jump to the top of my "Traditional" Trilogy List.

Although there are references to Raiders in Last Crusade (in the catacombs and also when Indy talks about Nazis). But you're right, they're not directly related.
