It's time to vote for the Montgomery area boys and girls athlete of the week, sponsored by Vance Law Firm.

Montgomery Academy's Tanner Bartgis won the boys poll last week for the second-straight week with 52% of votes after scoring the overtime-winning goal and the match-tying goal in a 4-3 win against Enterprise. On the girls side, Trinity Presbyterian's Marley Sharpless won with 62% of votes after allowing eight hits and one walk over seven innings and going 3 for 4 at the plate.

Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers of the week before. To nominate a top performer, have your coach email [email protected].

Voting will last until Thursday at noon. Votes will not be accepted via email, only in the polls below.

Montgomery area boys athlete of the week nominations​

  • Opp's Parker Burgess hit a sacrifice fly RBI for a walk-off, 2-1, win in the 7th inning Game 1 of a playoffs' doubleheader against Bayside Academy.
  • Montgomery Academy's Andrew Hosein pitched six innings, allowing two hits, no runs and six strikeouts in a, 2-0, win against Highland Home.
  • Montgomery Academy's Jack McIntyre shot 72 to finish as low medalist in the 311 to 331 defeat over Pike Liberal Arts.
  • Trinity Presbyterian's James Treadwell continued his undefeated season (20-0 in singles, 21-0 in doubles) and won his 5th sectional singles and doubles championships.
  • Opp's, 10-1, win against GW Long was highlighted by Baylor Turman's two-run home run.

Montgomery area girls athlete of the week nominations​

  • Saint James' KK Corley scored the game-winning goal in a, 1-0, win against Tallassee.
  • Montgomery Academy's Livia Dwyer placed 4th in the 1600 meters in a meet at Trussville.
  • Brantley's Alex Grimes pitched a one hitter and struck out 16 batters, and, in her turn at bat, had three hits, scored twice and had four RBIs in the, 11-0, win against McKenzie.
  • Opp pitcher Addison Moseley struck out 13 batters and gave up two runs and two hits in seven innings pitched in a, 6-2, win against Holmes County.
  • Prattville Christian Academy's Peyton Thrash drove in two runs on three hits in a, 13-1, win against Trinity Presbyterian.
