That was fast. The halfway point of Palm Beach County's high school baseball season is already upon us.

Just four weeks ago, we asked local baseball fans who they felt warranted Preseason Most Valuable Player recognition, and the community responded by selecting Dalton Needle of King's Academy, who edged out Spanish River's Roman Zabala and Park Vista's Anthony Espinoza in the voting.

Needle has responded by a .545 batting average with 18 hits and 10 RBIs, pacing the team in all three categories.

Now that we're at the halfway point, The Palm Beach Post is asking the community to vote once again, but this time, we're taking a look at the breakout candidates — players that were not included in the preseason watch-list, but that have impressed in the first half of the baseball season.
