Two Eugene-area teams fell short of a state crown at the girls basketball state tournaments last week after highly successful seasons.
Springfield took sixth place at the 5A tourney after a 62-56 overtime loss to Wilsonville. Willamette played Jefferson for third place in the 6A tournament Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
This week's Register-Guard girls Athlete of the Week nominees are:
- Sailor Hall, Springfield basketball
- Diamond Wright, Willamette basketball
- Ikunaday Filipe, Springfield basketball
- Harper Wagner, Willamette basketball

Sailor Hall, Springfield
The sophomore had 49 points and eight rebounds in three games for the Millers at the 5A state tournament. In the fourth-place game against Wilsonville on Saturday morning, Hall scored nine of Springfield's 11 points in the fourth quarter, helping send the contest to overtime. Springfield fell to Wilsonville, 62-56, to finish sixth place.
Diamond Wright, Willamette
The senior had 40 points, 13 rebounds and an assist for the Wolverines in her team's first two games at the 6A state tournament last week.
Ikunaday Filipe, Springfield
The senior had 23 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Millers in three games at the 5A state tournament.
Harper Wagner, Willamette
The senior accounted for 12 rebounds, nine points and two assists for the Wolverines in their first two games at the 6A state tournament.
