The Oregon high school girls wrestling state championships were held earlier this month. Thurston won the team title, while several Eugene-area wrestlers took home individual titles.

Now we want you to vote for the wrestler of the year. Vote at registerguard.com/sports. The poll will be open until 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29.

Vote: Who should be The Register Guard's boys wrestler of the year?

Here are the nominees, in alphabetical order, for Eugene-area girls wrestler of the year.

Eily Asher, Thurston​


The senior took third place at 100 pounds after she pinned Sprague's Chaya Palomo at the 6A/5A state tournament. Asher finished fifth in the same weight class in 2024.

Emmalee Brissette, Oakridge​


The sophomore finished second place at 115 pounds in a 9-7 decision to Burns' Hadley Gunderson at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament.

Izabella Castleberry, Thurston​


The junior took second place at 190 pounds after being pinned by McKenzie Mills of David Douglas at the 6A/5A state tournament. Castleberry won an individual title at 155 as a sophomore in 2024.

Katiry Day, Thurston​


The sophomore took third place at 235 pounds after she pinned North Salem's Evelynn Littejohn at the 6A/5A state tournament.

Abbie Hock, North Eugene​


The senior finished second place at 170 after being pinned by Natalie Wilhoit of Tigard at the 6A/5A state tournament. Hock was the first Highlanders girls wrestler in school history to place at state.

Vanessa Keller, Oakridge​


The junior defeated Harrisburg's Paxton Steele in a 7-3 decision to secure the 110-pound title at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament. Keller is a three-time state champion, having secured titles at 105 and 100.

Chantell Noffsinger, Creswell​


The senior pinned La Grande's Paige Allen to win the 145-pound title at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament. Noffsinger won her first individual state title after placing third in 2023.

Eden Ridgley, Harrisburg​


Ridgley, a freshman, took second after being pinned by Nyssa's Lorien Bowns in the 100-pound bout at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament.

Paxton Steele, Harrisburg​


The sophomore took second after falling to Keller in a 7-3 decision in the 110-pound bout. Steele won an individual state title at 110 in 2024.

Kali Williams, Oakridge​


The junior finished second at 130 pounds in a 5-4 decision to Crook County's Taylor Echeverria at the 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament. Williams took second in the same weight class in 2024.

Kristal Zamora, Thurston​


The senior took second after being pinned by Forest Grove's Kennedy Blanton in the 140-pound final at the 6A/5A state tournament. Zamora finished second last year and third in 2022 and 2023.
