Well, they definately showed they can play with a traditional lineup and be successful even when Nash is having an off game offensively (still, 10 assists). We should definately see a lot more of this lineup against San Antonio, Minnesota, Sacramento, Miami, Houston, Cleveland & even the Clippers. Also Voshkul should be back by the next game so we can bring in a backup center with some experience. So who goes to the injured listed......Zarko, Vroman, Barbosa w/ Chicken Pox?

The problem with the chicken pox is that the whole team was exposed a few days ago!!!! YIKES!

Terrific game. You wouldn't think it from the box score with Portland shooting 50% but the Suns played much better D than they have in a several weeks. Amare was keeping up his end, too. They shared the ball to the tune of 30 assists. To top it off, D'Antoni finally let two bigs play together for a while - and they done good. Next thing you know he'll start using more of the bench.

I hope they don't show that floor length drive of Amare's on national TV... might embarrass the ref's for letting him get away with an obvious palming of the ball and they could take it out on him.

Ouch... having chicken pox at mature age is very annoying.

My cousin just had one at age 21. He was in HELL.

I don't think Barbosa would come back in at least a week.

I thought the Suns had some stretches of good defense, but overall it left a lot to be desired. Amare had a great game. His defense was a little bit better. He is still taking a lot of plays off though. I will forgive him because of the 50 points. :)

I thought his defense was a lot better than it has been in the last few weeks. They obviously worked on defending the pick & roll because Amare came over and cut off the PG when he went around the screen and there was very little penetration by Damon Stoudamire or Nick Van Exel. Also Amare hustled for rebounds (even loose ball rebounds) and tried to block shots. He was aggressive on defense and there was only 1 play where I saw him just back off and let his guy go in for a dunk (and he was called for a foul on that play???).

There were times where he allowed Zach Randolph & SAR to get great position and I'd like to see him force those guys out of the lane and deny them that great position. That's where I think Hunter really came in and helped out. Hunter definately wasn't afraid to bang with Zach Randolph although he also got called for 5 fouls (some looked phantom, but I couldn't tell being at the game).

One key to the game was the play of Hunter. He had 10 points and 5 rebounds, but what was crucial was that their guards had to shoot floaters and jumpers.

BTW, the theory that having Hunter in the lineup would hurt Amare's scoring does not appear to be valid.

Damn you George, I was gonna say the exact same thing.
:hulk:

Oh, you didn't mention 4 block Hunter had. :p
