Josh Brolin will play the president in the Oliver Stone-directed film “Bush,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stone, who also helmed films about John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, is hoping to start production as early as the spring, in order to release the film around the fall presidential election.

Brolin currently stars in the Coen brothers’ critically acclaimed drama “No Country For Old Men.”

Meh, it looks really, really stupid. When I first heard about it I was excited. Then I read some parts, and saw some stuff on it. Looks incredibly lame, I think I'll pass.

Yeah, a smear biopic that's less bio and more propoganda. Oh, and released in an effort to help Obama get elected to boot. No thanks. It looks like Brolin will be solid, but I'm not buying stone's dish of crap on this one.

Unfortunately I doubt America will be able to look at this movie subjectively. No matter if it is good or not, Republicans will hate it and Democrats will like it.

That's not what I'm reading. It seems that dems are mad because it doesn't paint him as the devil incarnate and actually as a kinda likeable guy, while Reps don't like it because it shows him as having a conscience instead of being supremely confident in everything.

Still sounds like a crappy movie.

My point is that Democrats are watching with a Democrat view and Republicans are watching with a Republican view, as opposed to 99% of other movies where people just watch them for entertainment.

You mean like a Michael Moore movie?

not sure why you think this is funny. political movies never do well and it only cost 25 million to make, so a 10.7 opening is actually pretty solid.

if you really want to laugh, check out the opening weekend numbers for another political movie that cost 25 million bucks, but BOMBED with a 3 million dollar opening and pretty much nothing after. It was called An American Carol.

It did about what it should, but I had heard a lot of people saying it would be even bigger with all of the anti-Bush people rushing to the theaters to see it. Didn't happen. A movie about talking chihuahuas that's been out for weeks did better.

Are you surprised? There are NO family movies at all out there, so it's no wonder the chihuahua movie is doing so well.

who were these people and were you guys living in 2004 when they told you this? Bush is a non-entity in society now and again, political movies don't play, plain and simple and Oliver Stone just ain't respected anymore to the point where his name draws people to the theaters either.

Didn't happen. A movie about talking chihuahuas that's been out for weeks did better.

yeah, a movie that's been exceeding expectations since week 1 and is the only Family movie out there beat a movie in a genre that historically does horrendous numbers at the box office. What's your point?
