Fatefehi is actually a DE in Denver. They rotate their DL so much everyone plays everywhere.

You see what he can do as a DE and you wonder what would a guy like Bryant do in that sort of system?

MadCards' opinion:

It has become obvious now that Mac has lost his team. I have never seen a team look so unprepared as I did yesterday against the Browns. Blame falls solely on the coaching staff. How can a professional sports team continue to have difficulty getting plays in on time during the tenth week of the season? Unacceptable!

Unfortunately I don't believe firing anyone right now would be in the best interest of the team. Finish this season out and when the season is over go find your new coach. Preferably one that has experience and has had some success in the past.

Mac is still a man of character and I believe he will continue to do what he feels is best for this team. So I have no problem with him finishing out the season.

Names of Coaches to replace Mac that interest me, Norv Turner, Jim Fassell. Give them the option to bring in their own assistants if they want to.

Come free agency I would like to see us land at least one top notch pass rusher and a solid cover corner on defense. On offense we need another WR to pair with Boldin and a more consistent right tackle. We also need to add more depth to the CB position in general.

At draft time draft your future franchise QB. He will have 2 years to learn the offense under Blake and will be ready to start when the new stadium opens. McCown just doesn't look like the answer.

At draft time take Roy Williams and trade for Drew Henson...............then follow Walters FA solutions.

Henson might be possible for the Cards second rounder ......Heck, throw in Clement.

Gotta get him before the draft, by draft time he goes back in. Henson is going to hand pick where he goes or he'll just refuse to sign. Unless he tells us he'll sign we should not take him he'll hold out for sure. Great talent but he's got a history of pulling an Elway on where he wants to play.

I think the only way to approach this is to visualize - "If we had a..."

If we had a head coach who could take us to the Super Bowl, who would it be? (What would he be like?)

If we had a QB who could take us to a Super Bowl, who would it be (What would he have to be like?)

If we had a secondary we'd need to get us to the Super Bowl, what would it have to be like?

If we had the front four we'd need...

Well you get the picture.

And once that matrix is laid out and agreed to, no expense should be spared to get us the coach and the players we have to have.

Great post Skkorp.

I agree totally with everything except McCown. I still think its way too soon or premature to write him off.

I WAS encouraged by the poise he showed yesterday. Even though he had less than desireable results in his short time out, he DIDN"T have that "deer in the headlights" look from the past, and actually seemed reasonably calm and aware of the field.
Right away, as he came up under center, he was looking and adjusting receivers. A good sign to me.

Giving up on him now, I think, would be a major, major, mistake.

Besides, there's a whole lot of things other than being worried about him right now that need "fixing" before hitting the panic button and pissing into the wind with another "can't fail" draftee.

I couldn't agree more. Mac IS a class act, but in spite of all else, I don't think you can really fault the overall organization and planning that he and the rest of the front office have put together the past 3 years. Some individual bad choices may have been made as to selection of assistant coaches, and maybe Mac's own over-conservativism and on-field game management can be questioned, but this organization HAS been headed in the right general direction.

It just appears that maybe Mac reached his own "Peter Principle" level of incompetancy.

I agree that it is too early to throw in the towel on McCown. I also saw some demonstrate some poise out there yesterday.

Still, he absolutely has to get quailty snaps the rest of the year or we will enter the offseason in the same predicament with respect to him as we did last year - in the dark. What will Mac do? I fear he'll keep playing Blake.

All of the players should be playing their butts off for Mac - he's been the easy going type that most people should like to work for and keep working for. But, I guess they won't wake up until a new coach kicking them in the butt. Too bad for them!
