According to MJ, the Cardinals have offered Warner a 3 year deal that would be about $5 million a year. Warner is asking for about $7 million a year. MJ believes that Warner will eventually sign that deal.

However MJ said that Warner is requesting that the Cardinals guarantee him that if he signs, they will use the money left over to pursue quality free agents. Specifically ones to help shore up the Offensive line.

MJ believes that Warner will be signed before the start of Free Agency.

I actually really like that.

Thanks for the report, I'm away from the radio today.

See, everyone was freaking out over the fact that Warner made some flip comment to a St. Louis newspaper reporter about being "intrigued" by the opportunity to re-unite with Martz in Detroit.

He's taking LESS than he wanted to stay in Arizona. Let's hope they honor his simple request. Arizona has over 20 million dollars in salary cap space. Use some of it!

I like the fact that Warner wants to re-sign, but also want the front office to continue to improve the team. If he signs for the 5 mil instead of the 7, that means something. I felt that Kurt was starting to click in this offense before he was hurt. Sure, he was good towards the start and middle of the year, but it was not until the latter half of the season, that he finally realized just how good the WR he was throwing two were. That takes pressure off of him, knowing that he does not have to be "on" all the time. I'm really excited to see what these guys are going to do in year two of this offense.

Hey that's great, a player wants to stay here, but wants a guarantee that we're going to give him a real OL. I like that Warner is doing that, it shows he wants to win and not just get paid.

And also not get pounded into the turf repeatedly. Makes sense to me.

Man, that is great. How can anyone dog this guy's leadership and character? I was not thrilled when we signed him, but he's won me over and earned my respect. If he can stay healthy next year, I think he'll have a huge season.

I don't know. $7 million a year for a guy who can't seem to stay healthy seems like a big gamble to me especially when he did not have that great of a 2005. I also don't think Warner should be dictating who or what we go after in the offseason (although I do agree with him on the o-line issue), he has neither the pedigree or history with this team to make such demands.

I think MJ believes that Warner and the Cards will eventually agree on $5.5 million per year.

That sounds about right to me. I think Warner is worth about $4.5 million per year but to get him to sign before FA opens up I think its worth the extra $1 million per year. Not having Warner Locked up before FA starts would change and complicate everything.

There's no reason why he can't state his opinion. Besides, Green acknowledged we need to add at least two starting OL this year. It's not like he's asking them to get Terrell Owens.

I might have misread it but it seemed like it was more of a demand than a request. Like him signing the contract was dependent on the Cardinals signing offensive lineman. Again, I have no problem with him suggesting such as anyone with two eyes could tell you how awful our run-blocking was last year but I do have issues with a player who's been here for one year and who is not a franchise-type player making personnel moves.

And I still think $7 million a year over three years is overpaying.

A calling out by Warner is what the Cards need.

He is willing to stay for less if the Cards spend to put a winning team on the field.

If the FO gets bent outta shape because of this comment then we will be back to 'the same ol' cards'.

I would imagine DG is happy Warner made that comment.

Well, MJ said he "requested" it. And, he's not going to get 7 mil so why worry about it?

That is fricking cool!! Anyone who ******* about Warner needs a swift :trout:

This is me on the right: :trout:

I am concerned about spending that much money for a guy who probably won't stay healthy. If we re-sign him, then we need to make sure we spend some dough on his back-up, 'cause we might see a lot of him.

Exactly. If we tee it up for the first game with 10 mil in cap space unused again.....

Yes, we need a good backup. I'm just afraid Denny thinks Navarre will be that guy.

Ditto. If Navarre is the #2, we are in deep doo-doo.

I beleive that MJ said Warner wanted Assurances from the Cardinals that money would be spent on quality free agents. Specifically on the O-Line.

Not that there would be anything in the contract regarding signing a FA OL.

If you can't realize that it's offensive, and somehow think there's any relationship to calling someone a "jerk".. Well, so be it. I might add, that there's little relationship to age when referencing good manners, etiquette... and bad.
