Heard that this morning on the Bickley/Jurecki show. They said Josh will be gone and test the free agent market after this season. They said that Warner wants to stay with the Cardinals and that Denny likes him. He is the perfect team player and willing to help and teach the younger QBs. They felt the Cards would get a young qb either through trade or the draft. Warner would be the starter while the yonger qb learns the system.

If they can fix the OL to give Warner some time and a running game, that will be awesome.

Plus, him teaching a younger QB for a year or two would be fantastic as well.

(of course, easier said than done....)

I doubt this is true. There will be a line of teams waiting to sign McCown and the Cardinals know it. Getting rid of McCown at this point would be pulling another Thomas Jones move. What kind of a running game would they have if they still had him?

Josh will be a free agent at the end of the season and if he wants to leave there is nothing the Cards can do unless they want to give him the franchise tag which would mean a salary of around $9 million. No way will that happen.

I'd say someone is going to pay him more than we would be willing to match just to have him as a backup.

Whoever it is, they need to fix his mechanics once and for all then they might have something.

I don't think there is a single NFL team that would sign Josh to start. Maybe an open competition ala Cleveland...but I don't see it otherwise.

Remember a few years back...there was a similar QB in Detroit (I think) named Mike McMahon. He was very very athletic, strong arm, but dumb as a box of rocks. He started a few games and then supposedly was a hot commodity in a trade or FA. I haven't heard anything from his since...although he still may be a #2/#3 somewhere.

Resigning Warner over McCown would be a mistake. The Cards already have a QB coach. They don't need Warner to mentor a young QB. Besides, Warner gets hurt every 6 or games or so now. The last time no one even touched him. He has no durability. None whatsoever. That happens as you approach 40!

I think there would be a bigger line to sign Warner.

I would hope that we would have Warner as a starter next year if we draft a QB with the intention of him being "the guy" for years to come.

With that side arm throw he should try baseball. He would be tough on right handers.

umm not much.....as has been stated ad nauseaum the line is the problem, and TJ aint good enough to succeed despite that fact.

Congratulations, you are the only person left who still thinks Josh mcCown is a viable NFL QB for another team. Like i said surround him with all stars and he could be a QB on a winning team. But dont expect him to be the reason the team wins. Just a facillitator. Assembling that kind of talent around a player like Josh is like having Thanksgiving dinner with the most delicious sides and drinks and then putting out a burnt turkey.

In other words good luck to whatever team goes after him this season. Hopefully all the fans who proselytize this guy to this day will follow....

I'm sure that Josh will look elsewhere and find a home that gives him a better chance of starting. He more than us has not given up on his dream. I hope for his sake he make it. As for Warner I would love to see him stay and play if he can. I don't think the draft is the only place we can get a young potential star. Look at how the Broncos did or how the packers did with Farve. There are so many examples of kids who were second teamers or can't break the starting line up like Rivers in San Deigo he is learning from a vet and should now be ready to go. I in fact hope we go that route.

I'm all for this. I think Kurt would make a good mentor and will help us bring along our QBOF. I just wish we could have drafted him already, as I think we'll be one more year away from truly competing.

He's the #3 QB for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Just going down the list, it doesn't seem like there are a ton of starting QB jobs available going into next year:

Probably: Miami, NY Jets, Detroit, Arizona
Maybe: Buffalo, Cleveland, Baltimore, Dallas, Kansas City, New Orleans

I'd say that only Miami and the Jets are locks to be looking for starters next year, and one of them will probably get Matt Leinart.

Why do you think the Jets and the Chiefs will be looking for a starting QB next year?

Also, Cleveland drafted Charlie Frye in the second round last year. He's going to be a very good NFL QB, IMO.

The Jets will be looking for a starting QB because last I heard they were going to stick Pennington as the #3 QB next year so that he doesn't blow out his arm again.

The Chiefs? I don't know. Trent Green will be 37 when 2006 kicks off, and on pace for near-career lows in TDs. It's just a gut feeling that they might want to bring some new blood in.

I know that Cleveland has Frye, but they may want to bring him along slowly, and they could open up a competition or have someone that's better than Dilfer. You never know. That's why they were in the "maybe" category.

I don't think that Charlie Frye is going to be anything as an NFL QB.

The rumor is the Jets are going to keep Pennington at #3 next year no matter what to let his shoulder fully heal. So if they get a shot at a starter they'll take him.

Frye caused a mini controversy the other day, Braylon Edwards came out and said he should be starting, and so should Frye, that Frye would be a breath of fresh air and everyone tried to get Frye to comment on it but he did the smart thing and let Braylon deal with the mess he caused. I really liked Frye too.

I hope Warner is not the QB in 2006. I am growing tired of the QB search in Arizona. Get a young guy and stick with him.

I would be happy with Matt Schaub (Falcon's back up), Phillip Rivers (SD benchwarmer), Drew Brees (SD starter), Lienart, Marcus Vick, the ND kid, or the Texas kid.

Just please stick with someone for longer than four weeks. The QB position is the last position on a football team that you should be doing contant changes. This will tear a team apart. If it has't already.

I THINK WARNER A 2 TIME NFL MVP IS A GRAET FIT IN ARIZONA ONCE THE CHEMISTRY CONNECTS BETWEEN WARNER, BOLDIN AND FITZGERALD IT BE LIKE IT WAS IN SAINT LOUIS WITH HOLT AND BRUCE. I ALSO THINK IF THE CARDS STAY ON THIS PACE THEY SHOULD GETA 1ST 0R 2ND ROUND PICK AND TRY TO GET USC QB AND LET HIM LEARN UNDER WARNER SO THE FUTURE OF ARIZONA FOOTBALL CAN BE LOOKING GOOD.

RESIGNING WARNER A MISTAKE NO WAY, THE MAN IS A 2 TIME MVP HE CAN TAKE ARIZONA TO THE PROMISE LAND. ARIZONA HAS THE RECIVERS NO GO AND GET A RUNNING BACK AND AN O LIN AND YOU WILL SEE ARIZONA IN THE PLAYOFFS. IAM FROM BALTIMORE,MARYLAND AND I SEE WHAT ITS LIKE HAVING A QB THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE THE RAVENS HAVE HAD THE WORST OFFENSE SINCE BILLICK TOOK OVER THE TEAM IN 98. THE BEST QB BALTIMORE HAD WAS TESTAVERDEWHO THEY LET GO AND LOOK WHAT HE DID FOR THE JETS. LET GIVE WARNER TIME HE WILL TAKE THEMTO THE PLAYOFFS.
